Souroosh 0 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Title: After upgrading to 4.10.2.0, new media in nested folders is not detected automatically Version: Emby Server 4.10.2.0 (installed through an automatic update) OS: Windows (server) Version history: I have previously run 4.8.1.0, 4.7.13.0, and 4.7.11.0 with no problems, and some of those were also installed through automatic updates. The problem started only after the automatic update to 4.10.2.0. Problem: Since the automatic update to 4.10.2.0, new media added to my library is no longer detected when the new video is inside its own subfolder. For example, I downloaded episode 7 of a show that already exists in my library. The file was placed in a folder named "Episode 7" inside the show's folder. Emby did not detect it, even though the parent show folder is already part of a library path. This worked fine on the previous versions. Workaround: I have to manually add the new nested folder to the library's folder list. Only then does the episode appear. Expected: New files and subfolders anywhere under an existing library path are detected and added automatically, as in the previous versions. Actual: New content inside nested subfolders is not picked up unless I add the folder to the library by hand. Steps to reproduce: 1. Have a library with a show folder that is already in the library. 2. Add a new episode inside its own subfolder (for example, ShowName/Episode 7/episode.mkv). 3. Wait, or run a library scan. The episode does not appear. Other notes: I made no configuration changes apart from the automatic update. I can provide server logs if needed.

Luke 43508 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
Souroosh 0 Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Hi Luke, Thanks for replying. Here are specific examples. All of these worked automatically on 4.8.1.0 and earlier. Since the automatic update to 4.10.2.0, new content is not detected. Example 1: Stick (2026) Folder: C:\Fin\tv\Stick (2026)\Season 1 (2026) The whole show never appeared in the library. I had to manually add the show folder to the library's folder list, even though C:\Fin\tv is already a library path. After that it was still not detected until I renamed things and rescanned. Right now it is still not showing up. Example 2: Vision Quest This show was also added under the same TV folder and never appeared at all. Example 3: Scrubs, Season 2, Episode 7 Folder: C:\Fin\tv\Scrubs (2026) (comedy)\Season 2 (2026)\ Episode 7 was in its own subfolder inside Season 2. The show and season already existed in the library, but this episode was not detected. Folder naming variations that also had the problem: C:\Fin\tv\Scrubs (2026) (comedy)\Season 2 (2026) C:\Fin\tv\Scrubs (2026) (comedy) \Season 2 (2026) (with a space after "comedy)") C:\Fin\tv\Scrubs (2026) [comedy]\Season 2 (2026) (square brackets instead of parentheses) My setup: - Everything is under the TV folder, which is listed in my library folders (for example C:\Fin\tv). The library paths are set up correctly. - Automatic library scanning and updating are left on. I also manually scanned the library, and the new content was still not picked up. - The files are on the local drive of my Windows server. A few older shows are on a second local drive (F:\Fin\tv). - I restarted the Emby server, shut it down and started it manually, and rebooted the whole computer. None of that helped. I am attaching the server logs from after adding the new content. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you!logs.zip

Luke 43508 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago What exactly makes you think it's not showing up ?
Souroosh 0 Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago The fact that when I go and open up the server on the PC it doesn't show the media or the episode mentioned earlier, and also the same situation applies to when you use the app on the streaming device to view.

Putting individual episodes into their own folders is not recommended by Emby. Paul
SoliFlix 45 Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago I think the cause is the folder “Scrubs (2026) “, which has a trailing space after “(2026)”, and according to the log the library scan aborts at this folder, so new shows like VisionQuest in your ...\Fin\TV\ folders never get added.
