[Plugin] Ombi Requests – request movies and series through Ombi right inside Emby

Hi everyone,

I've built an Emby Server plugin that connects Emby with Ombi. Your users can discover and request movies and series without leaving Emby: in the web app and in every other Emby app (TV, mobile, Theater).

Source, documentation and download: https://github.com/Philipp-AT/emby-ombi-requests
Latest release: https://github.com/Philipp-AT/emby-ombi-requests/releases/latest

In the web app

  • A "Requests" entry in the side menu: discover lists, search, title details with trailer, and "My requests" with withdraw
  • Below Emby's search: matching titles that aren't in Emby yet, ready to request
  • On library series: "Request missing episodes"; on movies and series: "Report a problem", which goes to Ombi's issues (when issues are enabled in Ombi)

In all Emby apps

  • A "Requests" channel with Ombi's discover lists (popular, in cinemas, upcoming, top rated, trending and more) and an optional "All movies" / "All series" catalog, so Emby's search also finds titles that aren't in your library yet
  • Heart = request, remove the heart = withdraw (while it waits for approval)
  • A banner on the poster shows the state: not in Emby yet, requested, approved, denied or available
  • Users get an Emby message when their request becomes available

For admins

  • Every request runs as the user's own Ombi account, so Ombi's permissions, quotas and auto-approval apply
  • "All requests" for Ombi admins and power users: approve, deny (also after approval) and delete
  • Per-user switches for the requests page and the requests channel
  • Users never see the name "Ombi"; the interface is in English or German

Requirements

  • Emby Server 4.9.1 or newer (tested on 4.10.2)
  • Ombi v4, reachable from the Emby server, and its API key

Installation

  1. Download OmbiRequests.dll from the releases page
  2. Copy it into Emby's plugins folder (Docker: /config/plugins) and restart Emby
  3. Under Dashboard → Server → Ombi Requests, enter the Ombi URL and API key and click "Test connection"
  4. For the web app, turn on "Load the script automatically" (or add the script tag in your reverse proxy) and reload the browser once with Ctrl+F5

A note on the web app: Emby doesn't show plugin pages to normal users, so "Load the script automatically" lets Emby serve its web app from a copy that includes the plugin's script (through Emby's DashboardSourcePath option). If you remove the plugin later, turn that setting off first or uninstall the plugin from Emby's plugin list. The README explains the details and the reverse proxy alternative.

This is an independent community project, not affiliated with Emby or Ombi.

Feedback, bug reports and ideas are very welcome, here or as GitHub issues.
