Emby Server (Docker on Unraid) fails locally and shows black screen with logo when internet drops

Hi everyone,

I'm running Emby Server as a Docker container on an Unraid NAS on my local home network (192.168.0.119). Everything works perfectly when the internet is active. However, I’ve noticed a major issue: when my internet connection goes down, Emby completely breaks for local clients even though the server and players are on the exact same local subnet and physical switch.

  • Server Behavior: When offline, the Emby Server appears to hang or refuse local playback requests, likely trying to reach external servers to validate/authenticate Premier status or license credentials.
  • Player Behavior: It's been a while, so if I remember correctly, on the client side, opening the app or trying to play local media results in a permanent black screen displaying only the Emby logo, refusing to load local libraries or content.

Since all media and players are completely local, why is an active internet connection required for local playback authentication, and how can this be bypassed or fixed in the Docker/Linux environment so local offline playback functions normally?

If needed, I can capture the log files by recreating an outage.

Thank you in advance for all your help and support.
