How to optimize Shield TV Pro for 4k playback??

I have a Nvidia Shield TV Pro using Emby.

My Emby server is running on a Asustor Flashstor 12 Pro FS6712X with 16gb ram, 52tb.

Everything play great except for my 4k movies, these buffer after a couple minutes.

Shield TV is supposed to be able to do hardware decoding of Up to 4K HDR playback at 60 FPS (H.265/HEVC)

How can setup my setup to properly playback my 4k movies?

Thanks

Well logs would be a good start 😉

Tell us about you network ( Wired or wireless )?

What does "Stats for nerds" tell you?

Is it transcoding?

More info is needed.

Thanks for the reply,

Wired, 2.5g switch to a 1g switch, no issues there.

Yes, it is transcoding, that's what I don't get. Why when Shield's hardware should be able to decode the stream.

Is there some setting in Emby that need to be changed to get video stream decoded by Shield hardware?

Should have made it clearer that Emby is transcoding the 4k UHD video, which is the problem.

Hi there, did you explore the stats feature in the video player to learn why it was transcoding?

By chance using AV1?

Posted

Hi Luke,

Had not seen this feature before. Checking it, it had Max bitrate set to 30Mb/s, changed it to 100 Mb/s and now seem to be working.

Conversation Reason - unsupported container

Will this change be universally applied or is there another place to change?

Thanks
