Thanatos0042 5 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 So, the controller for my tv slipped in my hand It deleted all 20+ seasons of NCIS without a "are you sure box? Considering you make me jump through hoops to log into my server...this seems like a bigger issue Is there any way to undelete the series?
Neminem 1973 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Did you have "allow media deletion allowed" enabled? On that user. If so I hope you have a backup... 1
Luke 43470 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Hi, all of our deletes have confirmations. What exactly did you press?
Thanatos0042 5 Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 (edited) @NeminemI don't have a back of this one, the series is too big, but thank you for that screenshot, I'll make sure that's turned off. But, I have a 3rd party tool for recovering deleted files, so I'm running that now. But I Wanted to check to see if there was an undelete option of any kind and I see now there is not @Luke-- This happened in the emby app on my TV...I Was going to delete the episode because it had issues and series was right beside it and the remote slid out of my grasp and somehow I hit delete series when trying to catch it. This is an LG tv. Edited October 22 by Thanatos0042 1
moviefan 189 Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I know this probably doesn't help you but I just have a recycle bin on my Synology so if anything is accidentally deleted I move it back from there. Emby is not the place to ask for an undelete option. It does not control your file system. As other users have pointed out, you could prevent deleting via Emby for your users if this is something you're worried about. What hoops are you jumping through to log into your server? I just open an app or click on my bookmark in my browser.
Thanatos0042 5 Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago @moviefanI used 3rd party software to retrieve the lost folder. I disagree with you on this point - it was INSIDE my Emby App on my TV that allowed me to delete the series without are "are you sure?" So this is not about the file system - this was done on an LG TV through emby...not on the emby server itself, which is why it was a problem. I don't watch emby on my pc, so I have no idea about the hoops there. But I open the app on my TV and it wasn't a password, sometimes it wants a pin...if i let it sit to long, it wants me to log in again. It's exhausting to have to battle this constantly in the name of "forced security". It's my network, my network is locked down behind a professional grade firewall exactly so I don't have to mind-breaking security across my internal network. So, to get around it I basically crazy simplified all of my passwords and pins so they offer no security whatsoever. You see, I do dialysis 3 days a week and 4 hours per session and when I get home, my brain is so fuzzy, I do not remember passwords and pins. not until I get about 4-6 hours of sleep. I use BitWarden on my pc to remember my passwords there, but my LG doesn't wok with that and if it did, it would probably be more cumbersome than it would be worth using, its' not like I have a keyboard/mouse for my tv...just the tv remote and it's awful to have to use that for anything more advanced then basic stuff on the tv. 1
Luke 43470 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Thanks for following up. Just to clarify one thing, the apple TV app displays the same confirmation prompts on delete as the emby web app.
