Not getting max quality from m3u8

I'm using Matt Huisman's IPTV links to source the Australian TV networks. Has worked fine in the past, but now I'm only getting 480p streams on a number of channels: Nickelodeon, SBS World Movies, SBS Food, 7 Bravo, 9, 9 Gem, 9 Go, and 9 Rush.

Matt has confirmed that the SBS Food channel, at a minimum, is available in 720p. Unsure of the others; I don't know how to check them. So it seems Emby is for some reason limiting the quality? Other channels are coming through at 720p just fine, though some channels used to be available in 1080p and no longer are. That could be that the 1080p stream is no longer offered, but it could also be a similar issue to whatever is limiting other channels to 480p.

OK so we are using ffmpeg to process this stream, rather than our own live tv stream sharing. When that happens it may not always pick the highest quality stream. But there are two things coming that will help with this.

First, as soon as I put up the next beta, more kinds of streams will be used by our own handling without ffmpeg - but not this one because it still uses some features we haven't' added our own support for, such as HLS encryption. So even though that won't help with this particular stream, it will generally help.

In addition to that, since our new ffmpeg build is also about to drop, we can explore the updated build and see if we can control it better to make it pick the best stream.

So...for now there's nothing that can be done?

I do know that at the very least SBS World Movies has worked fine for the vast majority of the years I've been using these feeds. I record a ton on there, and they were all 720p until recently, so something would seem to have changed.

does your provider have the ability to be configured for mpegts output?

I don't know what that means.

Many providers have that option where you can pick the output format in their settings and then it will generate a new m3u for you.
