MrBuggie 2 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Hi, I’m having an odd issue. My server is a Raspberry Pi 4, so any transcoding immediately causes buffering. And every time a try to play a file using an AV1 codec in Firefox or Chrome, it starts transcoding. I rarely watch content in my browser on my PC, so it hasn’t been a massive issue, just an annoyance from time to time. Everything works fine in the phone and TV apps. However, I was just trying to watch some content in the browser with dual audio. When I play it with original Japanese language (OPUS), it plays fine. When I select the English audio (AAC), it starts transcoding the video. Not the audio, that shows as direct play. I tried turning off all transcoding for the user, and it will show that I’ve selected English, but will only play the Japanese audio. If I allow only audio transcoding, it plays in Japanese, but English gives the error: No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. Playback failure: servererror If I also allow changing of container formats, it will only play the audio in English, no picture. My thanks to anyone that can help. embyserver.txt
Luke 43336 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Quote When I select the English audio (AAC), it starts transcoding the video hi, this is because the browser video player can't select a secondary audio track, so we have to repackage the video with only the track that you've selected. this results in a full video transcode because the format that we're doing this with currently can't hold av1.

I have to wait for an update to the format used in the browser player? Is that likely to happen in the near future? So if I understand what’s happening, I can only play AV1 files if they have a single audio track (or I play the default one)?
