huykhoi 1 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Hi everyone, I’ve built a subtitle provider plugin for Emby Server and I’m looking for beta testers before I request inclusion in the official plugin catalog. What it does Many videos only come with subtitles in one language, usually English. This plugin adds a new subtitle source called subtitle.ifim. When Emby looks for a subtitle in a language your video doesn’t have, the plugin: takes a text subtitle the video already has (an external .srt/.ass/.vtt file or an embedded text track in MKV), sends it to the subtitle.ifim.shop API to be translated into the language Emby asked for, returns the result to Emby, which saves it next to the video (e.g. Movie.vi.srt). Because it translates the video’s own subtitle, the timing always matches the video. Features Works with Emby’s normal subtitle flow: the automatic download for new media, the Download missing subtitles scheduled task, or a manual search in Edit subtitles 20+ target languages, including Vietnamese, English, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian, Spanish, French, German and more Converts embedded text tracks and ASS/VTT to SRT automatically, and detects legacy encodings (Windows-1252, GBK, Big5…) Optional bilingual mode (original line + translation) Translates one file at a time, so a full library scan won’t flood the server Requirements Emby Server 4.8 or newer A free API key from https://subtitle.ifim.shop/account/api (includes a free daily allowance of 300,000 characters, which is roughly 4–5 movies a day) Installation Download the attached Emby.SubtitleIfim.dll. Copy it into your Emby plugins folder: Windows: %AppData%\Emby-Server\programdata\plugins Linux: /var/lib/emby/plugins Docker: /config/plugins Restart Emby Server. Go to Dashboard → Plugins → subtitle.ifim, paste your API key, click Test API key, then Save. Go to Library → edit a library → Subtitle downloads, then tick subtitle.ifim and the languages you want. Privacy To translate, the plugin sends the subtitle text and the video title (e.g. “Movie Name (2020)” or “Show S01E02”) to subtitle.ifim.shop. No video or audio files, library data or viewing history are sent. Known limitations Image-based subtitles (PGS/VobSub) can’t be translated yet, because they need OCR first. If a video has no subtitle at all, the plugin returns no result. These are machine translations, so quality is good but not equal to a human translation. What I’d love feedback on Does installation and configuration work on your setup (Windows / Linux / Docker / NAS)? Any errors in the Emby log (search for subtitle.ifim)? How is the translation quality for your language? Do you have unusual subtitle files (odd encodings, ASS with heavy styling) that fail?
