Video issue when browser is minimised.

Hi all,

I moved from Jellyfin recently and got to be honest, loving Emby I'm very happy with it, I've noticed a bug I think and I'm wondering if maybe someone had highlighted this before, but it's something I've noticed and can be reproduced.

I use the latest Waterfox browser on Windows 10 and the latest Emby.

I do fall asleep to standup comedy, so I would normally, play the video, minimise the browser and set the screen to turn off after a minute and that works fine, but I've noticed, when it's minimised and reaches the end of the video, it won't come out of the video and go back to the page where you click play on the video, but if the browser is normal size, it'll come back out of the video at the end.

You can scrub right to near the end and minimise to recreate it.

I haven't tried in Edge or Chrome though.

I tried to use the Windows app with background play, that works minimised, only the screen won't turn off, so many could be two bugs to fix?

Any ideas would be very helpful?

Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi Luke,

Just keeping you updated.

I updated to 4.10.2.0 last night and the issue/bug appears to be resolved now.

I had checked to see if something was added to the changelog for this issue, but couldn't see anything, so updated and assumed it wasn't added in this build.

Fell asleep as normal with a standup movie in the background and the video minimised and noticed when I opened it back up, it came out successfully and back at the original video page.

I've done some tests and so far it's coming out of the media at the end of the movie correctly when the browser is minimised as expected.

I'll do more tests, but looking to be resolved now. Not sure if something was added, or something else might have fixed it or just something in my original setup that got fixed.

Thanks for investigating into this.

Hi, thanks for following up. I did forget to mention this in the release nights, so yes you’re right about that.
