BiberM 0 Posted Thursday at 06:08 PM Posted Thursday at 06:08 PM Dear community, with some mkv files I see a strange behavior when watching mkv videos on my Samsung TV from 2025 (S95F I think). No matter what language is selected during playback the audio track remains a certain one. Sometimes it is the last (e.g. commented audio track) sometimes the first (then most of the times english). I copied the discs to my NAS using makemkv always copying the whole movie with all subtitles and audio tracks. I also tried changing the default track using MKVToolNix. User preferences are set to german and even ignore the default track. Both settings changed seperately with no effect. Server version is 4.9.5.0 (most recent stable) TV App version: 2.3.6 (most recent store version in germany) Is that a known issue? I could not find anything in the forum but maybe I used the wrong search terms. Could that be solved with the most up to date TV App version (2.4.8.)? Thanks in advance! Michael
Luke 43019 Posted Thursday at 06:11 PM Posted Thursday at 06:11 PM Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
BiberM 0 Posted Thursday at 06:49 PM Author Posted Thursday at 06:49 PM Thanks for the quick reply and yes, I forgot that. There are 2 remux logs on the server. I first started playback on my PC using firefox (~19:24 in the logs). At 2026-09-03 19:25:16.506 is the first entry where I tried it on the Samsung TV. I was playing "Der Herr der Ringe - Die Gefährten". I've had this issue with a different movie some time ago but had no time digging into this. Am I missing some information? Luke 43019 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago what track played? What track did you expect to play?
BiberM 0 Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Played was an english audio track. According to the ffmpeg logs this must be track 1 or 2. Also according to those logs track 5 has been marked as default and additionally it is the first german track, which is the user setting of the emby user trying the playback.
BiberM 0 Posted 35 minutes ago Author Posted 35 minutes ago (edited) I tried another movie which I had problems with. I removed all duplicate audio tracks comparing the language. E.g. English and german had 2 tracks each (DTS-HD Master and DTS). I removed the DTS tracks leaving eng and ger with DTS-HD Master and all other languages with AC-3. This resulted in playing the audio track with the highest number which in this case was turkish. Playback startet around 12:00:00. Thiss time only the embyserver.txt log is available. I attached it here. embyserver.txt Edited 28 minutes ago by BiberM added screenshot and correct audio codec for other languages
