corey 318 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) Please see attached logs. In this case I played a movie for about a minute before stopping playback. I did this to try and capture logs for reporting here. Earlier in the evening I was watching something else and the Emby Dashboard Activity reported a start / stop of playback immediately even though I watched the entire episode (~54 minutes). I've tried reconfiguring the plugin and rebooting the device. Neither has worked. As shown in the Emby Server logs Emby sees playback progress reporting stop nearly immediately: 2026-08-21 00:46:47.256 Info SessionManager: Playback start reported by app Emby for Kodi Next Gen 11.1.27 on CoreELEC Living Room playing Spider-Man: Far From Home. quickmic 1749 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) Did you try an update to 12.X version of the plugin? 12.X version has a lot of changes also reporting progress to Emby. Edited August 22 by quickmic
corey 318 Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 (edited) @quickmic— I’m not given the option to update to 12.x in the Kodi interface. I only see version 10.x and 11.x. What’s the best way to upgrade to it? Edited August 22 by corey
quickmic 1749 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 By instilling it form Emby's Kodi repository https://kodi.emby.tv/ Or sideload it via Kodi addon's install from zip. There is an emby source available.

There is an emby source available. @quickmicI am using the https://kodi.emby.tv/ repository and it doesn’t give me the option for 12.x. I’d prefer not to side load so I can get updates more easily. Any guidance on why I might not be seeing it when using that repo? I just tried uninstalling Kodi for Emby, removing the sources, re-adding the repo, reinstalling it all and I only see 11.x still. if it helps (since it’s unclear in the docs) I have been installing the “service” add-on which has an 11.x version. The “video” add-on is 10.x Edited August 22 by corey
corey 318 Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 @quickmicJust to add more clarity I install from zip file marked version 1.0.8. After that the video add-on I see is version 10.1.2 and the service add-on is 11.1.27. I removed all Kodi for Emby add-ons again and installed the video add-on. When going into the versions view for that add-on I only see version 10.x and below. No 11 and no 12.
quickmic 1749 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 You must install der service addon 12.X Video, audio and picture addons are just helper addon.

corey 318 Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 That ended up being the trick. I didn't realize that 12.x wasn't in stable. I uninstalled everything. Installed both repos. Installed the 10.x "video service" which by default installed 11.x of the "service" add-on. Eventually I was able to update that to 12.x. All seems to be working now. 1
