Error connecting to server at iOS app launch

Recently I am immediately met with an error message saying the app cannot to connect to the server.  It resolves itself in a couple of seconds and connects, however I never saw this behavior before.  

1. is anyone else seeing this now under 4.9.5.0

2. does anyone know how to 'fix' it

Isn't this just the new pre-emptive connection delay message?  I noticed it today in iOS when I was away from home, and thought it was a bit too soon for it to show.

That may be true, but it has only just recently started to appear for me, and at the same time, downloading for offline viewing now no longer works.

Hi there, downloading works just fine. What makes you think it no longer works?

Pretty simple.  When I click download it never does.  Never appears.  Never downloads.  Doesn’t matter if it’s on WiFi or cellular. Always fails. No info provided. Just never shows up.

I’m not sure how else to explain it.  Go to a tv episode or movie. Click the download button. Select the mbps (I always use default 1.5).  It says downloading.  Never does.

Try a download then post your server log here so that the devs can try to see what's gone wrong.
