horstepipe 430 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 (edited) Hello I am wondering why Emby thinks to touch / transmux this video, what exactly is happening here? I set an automatic remote streaming quality for that user. Does this mean that the user changed the value from automatic to something else? Luke 43050 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 The quality setting can still trigger that. You have to take away all conversion permissions if that’s what you want .
horstepipe 430 Posted August 13 Author Posted August 13 I see. but why is that needed / useful? So if a user tries to request a movie in lower quality but isn’t allowed to, why does he get a hls stream instead of the original one in same quality? If I disable conversion at all then playback will break on items which really need it. So from my understanding the file should just direct play.
pünktchen 1420 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 The value of "Automatische Remote-Streaming-Qualität" will only be used if the app is set to streaming quality (auto), which is the default setting for a new app installation. But the app users are still allowed to choose any other quality setting if they like to.

Luke 43050 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Actually Samsung just launched our app update for 2024 devices and newer. For older devices the update is still in testing.
