GeorgeCalli 19 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I’ve got a new Windows 11 PC and want to move my Emby Server setup from the old Windows 10 machine. But when I download Emby Server for Windows, I only get the portable ZIP version. Where is the proper Windows installer (MSI) that installs Emby Server as a Windows service?”
Lessaj 543 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Where are you looking for it? What are you downloading exactly?
RobWayBro 28 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago https://emby.media/windows-server.html is the download location. There is a big Download button which download the setup.exe installation file and FYI, Emby does NOT have a built-in option to 'run-as-a-service'. I use NSSM (Non-Sucky Service Manager) to create the service. On that page are the optional, portable downloads. HTH
Luke 42868 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Hi, once you've installed Emby Server, you can learn how to set it up as a service here: Running Emby Server as a Windows Service 1
GeorgeCalli 19 Posted 44 minutes ago Author Posted 44 minutes ago Thanks everyone for the quick and helpful responses. I realised I was confused about the Windows service part - I didn’t actually need it at all. The normal Windows installation was correct, and everything is now up and running properly. Appreciate the prompt assistance from all of you.
