OK try refreshing the metadata on the movie and see if  that helps.

After further investigation refreshing metadata does not always work.
What does work 100% is to click on each person with missing photo and then press F5 on the movie screen.

It will work but it has to be after you've already seen the broken image.

Additionally it does some existing lookups that we can't do as part of the library scan because there's too many. It has to be one at a time, so it's not until clicking on the person. But in most cases the refresh metadata of the movie or show will do it.

So you are saying I have to manually refresh the metadata for every movie I add and there is no permanent solution to fix that?
I still don't understand why the person isn't fixed once I scan it once.

No I'm not. If you add a new movie and none of the people are already in your database, then they won't have paths pointing to your old windows install and there shouldn't be problem.

Because you had a path saved in your database for that person already. The server isn't' going to go and check on every single library scan if those paths are still valid or not. Would you like your library scans to be slow or fast?

If you run the scan metadata folder scheduled task (which will take a long time), then that will help scrub the bad paths out of your database.

That won't pull in new images but will remove one step from the process of cleaning them up.

Mackie was in both movies Avengers and Avengers: AoU. I had to fix him twice. I added A:Aou after I fixed Avengers.

There is one more thing thing I have to mention.

Selecting Refresh Metadata on the whole library does not fix the photos, I have to press it on each movie/tv show, and that not always works in 100%

Yes it will, but can take a long time, and since you can't monitor the progress in the user interface yet, this can lead you into thinking that it's not working.

No it does not. I have waited over 1hour and way past when the the round % icon disappeared ( it was doing 2-3 passes )

It queues up refreshes in the background that you currently can't monitor. it is the same thing as refreshing multiple movies in bulk.

But I notice your log is from 4.9.3. You may want to update to 4.9.5 in case there's something that was resolved that I'm not remembering.

I thought the server is updating automatically.

I have initiated the Refresh Metadata on my TV Shows collection over 1h ago.
And this how the Teacup looks like

I'm going to leave it until tomorrow and report back.

One more thing I have to mention. Maybe this will give you a clue of what is going on.
The first time I open the movie/ tv show I get broken image icons.
For the second time I see person icons like there are no photos available for these actors

First time -> server thinks you have an image because it's in your db from your windows install.

second time -> server has recovered from this and erased the bad link from your db

When you refresh metadata it needs to be after that first time, because it will not replace existing images.

So my question remains.
How do I fix it all and avoid having to go inside every item in my libraries.

Posted

Then that would be a fresh install. I'm sorry that we haven't added a recovery for this specific situation.

Fresh install, and loose all my users data? That's out of a question.

Seriously now, something has to be done about this. Continuing to deflect and pretend it isn’t a server-side issue is not helping.

The only way to refresh the cast gallery is to open every single movie and tv show and scroll through all actors, so the Emby server can load each person and replace the broken image icon with a person icon. Then you have to refresh the metadata.

Just entering the movie or show isn’t enough. Only the first cast page updates, and I have to keep pressing the right arrow on the cast list repeatedly to force it to fix every actor's missing photo.
