Oomek 6 Posted August 10 Posted August 10 I've been also having this issue for years. Random cast and crew photos are missing after Scan Library Files. The only solution is to manually go into each actor, then the photo is updated, then go back to the movie screen and press F5. Or you can manually refresh the metadata for each added movie, but both solutions are annoying and require extra labour. When will it be fixed?
Luke 43050 Posted August 10 Posted August 10 @Oomek HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 (edited) I will provide the logs, but since you've moved my question to a new thread could you please move it to Server because this issue is presents on all player platforms and on web admin page as well. Edited August 11 by Oomek
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 (edited) Here are screenshots of what is happening. 1. I add a movie to the library 2. I open the movie page 3. Inside there are always some random photos missing 4. When I click on actor's page then go back and press F5 the photo shows up. embyserver.txt Edited August 11 by Oomek grammar
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 OK try refreshing the metadata on the movie and see if that helps.
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 6 minutes ago, Oomek said: Yes, manually refreshing metadata works. refreshing metadata on what exactly?
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 OK so it's hard to say why those people didn't have an image. Maybe from the time you first added the show or movie, new people images got uploaded to tmdb or tvdb. The next time you add a new movie or series, if you think someone should have gotten an image that didn't, then please provide the log from when the movie or series was first imported. But before doing that, check whether or not your enabled metadata fetchers in library settings even have an image for that person. So if you have Tmdb enabled, then check the Tmdb website, same for tvdb, etc.
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 It's not an isolated incident, every movie or show I add has random photos missing.
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Just now, Oomek said: It's not an isolated incident, every movie or show I add has random photos missing. Nonetheless, the process of learning why is the same. What I mentioned above is the most likely answer: Quote Maybe from the time you first added the show or movie, new people images got uploaded to tmdb or tvdb. But there could be other reasons as well.
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 (edited) Quote Maybe from the time you first added the show or movie, new people images got uploaded to tmdb or tvdb. 1. Often very famous actors' photos are missing 2. When I scan for metadata immediately after uploading the movie the missing photos are showing up Edited August 11 by Oomek
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Quote 2. When I scan for metadata immediately after uploading the movie the missing photos are showing up This is when cast member photo urls are obtained, so this is when it should happen. But for existing ones that are missing, all of this happened in the past, so there's no way to know why. You can refresh metadata as I suggested and then if it happens with a new movie we can look closer at it.
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 Here is a video I just recorded and a fresh log embyserver.txt
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Something is misconfigured somewhere. Look at these paths: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file '/opt/emby-server/D:\MP3\Jeff Mills\Jeff Mills - Sleeper Wakes (FLAC)\folder.jpg'. File name: '/opt/emby-server/D:\MP3\Jeff Mills\Jeff Mills - Sleeper Wakes (FLAC)\folder.jpg'
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Probably more than one thing misconfigured: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file '/var/lib/emby/metadata\people\c\Claudia Kim-tmdb-1401531\folder.jpg'. File name: '/var/lib/emby/metadata\people\c\Claudia Kim-tmdb-1401531\folder.jpg' Note in both cases the mix of forward and backward slashes.
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 (edited) I moved some time ago my Emby server from Windows to Ubuntu, but I was having the issue with photos long before that. But these errors are from mp3 library. What do you suggest I should try? Edited August 11 by Oomek
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 So regarding Anthony Mackie, the server thinks you already have an image, but the path is invalid: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file '/var/lib/emby/metadata\people\a\Anthony Mackie-tmdb-53650\folder.jpg'. File name: '/var/lib/emby/metadata\people\a\Anthony Mackie-tmdb-53650\folder.jpg' So it errors when trying to access that image. That's why you see the broken placeholder in your screenshot. After the first failed attempt, the server removes the invalid path from the database so that it doesn't keep erroring over and over. So then at that point you have no image for that person, and that brings us to where you are today.
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 Oh, the second one is actually from the movie I just added, so what I should do then?
Luke 43050 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Just now, Oomek said: Oh, the second one is actually from the movie I just added, so what I should do then? But the person was already in your database. Moving an installation between windows and linux is not fully supported yet. Existing impacted people are going to require manual fixup as I've outlined in this topic. New people that are not in your database shouldn't have any problem as you continue to add new movies and shows.
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 I added Avengers with Anthony Mackie in it yesterday, then scanned for missing metadata. Today I added Avengers: Age of Ultron and I'm having the same issue. So I'm not really understanding what manual fixup you have in mind.

Your server had images for them, but they were pointing to invalid locations.
Oomek 6 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 Are you sure this is not some race condition between threads?
