dgrigo 36 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 OK I have a question ! Strugling to clean my database (deleted everything until i figure out what works, I have no need for fancy page, so as my entire library is perfect , i am trying to go for minimal display. I prefer it is just music , select and hear it lol If i delete with mp3tag the tag for artists and scan a new library ,emby removes artists from its page. ( i am not talking for Now when I do the same with composers tag , emby keep displaying a Composers empty field. I have those enabled ALBUM,ALBUMARTIST,DISCNUMBER,GENRE,TITLE,TRACK,YEAR So why i have a composers field in emby, my library is just local nothing fetching from internet and just fetching the id3v2 tags.
Luke 42917 Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Hi, what do you mean by composers empty field? Can you please show a screenshot example? Thanks.

Perhaps the OP means that even when there are no Composer tags, Emby still shows Composer in the menu tab header and the Composer page view is still accessible, but empty??? I made a test music library with only one song to confirm this: It seems that both Composers (and Genres) remain in the menu, even if there no tags, but Artists (and Playlists and Tags) do not. Testing further, Album Artists remains, with no tag, and Albums does not, but then an empty Genres also disappears: I didn't test any further possible combinations. So, there does seem to be some inconsistency, but it seems an uncommon edge-case, because I don't think too many people would be removing metadata to show less menu tabs??? I'm happy to stand corrected if this is not what the OP means... When Custom Menu Tabs is implemented (I think Emby has confirmed this) then the above use-case will likely not be an issue???
dgrigo 36 Posted August 12 Author Posted August 12 Exactly that, It seems that both Composers (and Genres) remain in the menu, even if there no tags, but Artists (and Playlists and Tags) do not. I prefer to differ, i remove some metadata, as artists is not interested to me because of inconcistency with nicknames, names , feat , punctation as seperrators etc . For me music artist , and album name is enaugh , i dont need wikipedia on display as i am relaxing or not listening to music. I hope Custom Menu Tabs, or overall Customization is in development, as i hate Collections too and cant get rid of them. Thanks 1
user24 403 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Yeah - I think I know what you mean. I would like to hide Artist and Composer menu tabs, but still want to keep the underlying metadata embedded in the Songs. To delete this data, as a workaround, isn't something I want to do!!! Custom Menu Tabs is a popular request. You could add your support by liking the first post here (if you haven't already): If you read through the comments, it seems like this on the Emby "to-do-list" but only Emby knows when... 1
dgrigo 36 Posted August 12 Author Posted August 12 Yeah, but was my last resort to get rid of them.... But I completely understand what you say. Thank you
