Jdiesel 1493 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 The Streamable this week published new data from Hub Research, ranking the top streaming OS competitors in the US market. To no one’s surprise, Roku has a dominant lead with 37% of the overall market, with Amazon’s Fire TV in a distant second place at 17%
Jdiesel 1493 Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 I'm surprised to see that Roku still has such a large market share. I'm curious to whether this aligns with Emby's install numbers.

daldana 136 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 So Android TV is leading the real world and the Emby world, but it's slated to be replaced by Emby mgmt? Am I missing something here?

Am I missing something here? Emby for Android is a direct substitute for Emby for Android TV. Both run on Android TV. There used a be a time when true Android TV devices were rare and most TV boxes ran mobile Android with a different launcher. That isn't the case anymore as most TV streamers run Android TV/Google TV now. I think one of the main reasons Emby is moving towards a Universal (mobile/TV) app, is due to different Play Store review requirements for Android TV apps. They must pass compatibility test suite checks, and meet certain UI and hardware requirements.
daldana 136 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 If it were a direct substitute, I would switch over to it in an instant, but it's not. The UI is not setup for a TV, you can't change channels by entering numbers from a remote, etc., there is a whole thread dedicated to the differences between the two.
