trying to work out the problem with remote connection to the server.

internally, i can connect and view my media on any device.

externally, i cannot connect, message = unable to reach .... (its the same picture i have found on every thread ive read with this issue)

i thought maybe it was the VPN, i removed said vpn to test the theory, i can rule that out as i get same issue, i have tried with several devices, so i can again rule out one device, i cant rule out the pc that i have emby setup on, though i have plex and have no issue remotely with that.

short of throwing my toys out the pram and uninstalling, does anyone have any idea? ive searched the web, but no answers.

Which of the troubleshooting steps that you found in those threads did you try?

If you have plex working maybe it's just a question of opening/port forwarding the specific Emby ports? Ask AI about how to test if specific ports are open.

Imma look into my crystal ball that is placed in my pram along the yellow brick road and completely 100% guess what your network infrastructure looks like.  Give me a minute.  Ok, maybe two minutes....  It's a common issue it seems.  It only works for the 100's or 1000's of people that may use EMBY.  It ONLY works for alot of people.

These generalized statements are soliciting a visceral reaction from me.

Every time this is posted it is not an Emby problem, but a "I did not configure things correctly" problem, and as usual, no where near enough information has been posted.

If you want actual help, you are going to need to tell the community if you've opened up ports on your router, what build you are using, what OS, etc.

Do you go to the doctor and say "Hey doc I'm in pain" and that's all you say? Or go to the mechanic and say "I hear a noise in the car" without being specific of where  you hear the noise, when it's heard and what kind of noise it is.

Please be more forthcoming with information if you want anyone to help you, otherwise, no one will, and you'll be mad, the community will get mad, and then no one will be happy.
