Hallo! Ich habe für meinen Sohn einen eigenen Emby-Account erstellt. Dieser Account hat nur Zugriff auf die Hörspiel-Bibliothek und nur Einträge mit FSK-6 sollten ihm angezeigt werden. Nun habe ich das Problem, dass entsprechende Hörbücher zwar unter "Neueste Hörbücher" für ihn angezeigt werden und dort auswählbar und abspielbar sind. Die Sektion "Meine Medien/Hörbücher" bleibt aber leer. Dort wird gar nicht angezeigt. Woran könnte das liegen?

hi, as a test, if you remove the rating restriction, does that resolve it?

No, it is actually the same result.

 

There is also no slider for audio books, but just books, not sure if that is relevant.

@Luke, not sure if that is the reason for this, but it seems there is no dedicated slider for "audio books" for the parental control, only books and music, despite being able to create an audio book library. When deactivating the "music" parental control slider, all audio books are shown, regardless of the age settings.

So, I sat down and vibe-coded a plugin that fixes the issue with audio books not shown in the audio book tab when parental control is activated for an account. Below a quick summary.  The ZIP contains the respective files and an installation how-to. However, only a replication on what I did on my NAS. Still, maybe it helps to either fix the issue in the main application for good or have the plugin added to the plugin catalog.

This community plugin is a temporary workaround for audiobook albums missing from the Audiobooks tab when parental/tag restrictions are enabled, while the same titles remain visible in Recommendations.

Version 1.0.0 has been successfully tested by its user on a Synology DS418 running Emby 4.10.1.0-724100100 (DSM 7.2 ARMv8 SPK). Audiobook visibility works in the tested setup. The plugin includes an embedded thumbnail, an icon and a 16:9 catalog-style tile. Fresh installations start disabled until their library IDs are configured.

How it works: the plugin uses Harmony to adjust Emby's internal album restriction queries in memory, only for one explicitly configured audiobook library. It prefers the album's own stored parental rating, falling back to Emby's original ancestor rating expression. An optional targeted tag-query adjustment can include tags on the album itself while also checking excluded tags. Available diagnostic logs showed no tag expression rewritten, so the tag adjustment has not been demonstrated as the cause of the fix.

It does not edit Emby's server binaries, media files or database. A server assembly hash guard rejects unrecognized builds. Global searches, track queries and mixed-library scopes are excluded from the workaround.

Manual installation: stop Emby, copy the two DLLs from plugin/ into the existing server plugins directory, then follow README.md to configure this server's logical collection and physical folder IDs. Do not rename the DLL or install another copy. On fresh installations the plugin is disabled until configured. Test allowed and blocked titles with a restricted account after enabling it.

The ZIP includes installation files, source, instructions, test notes, the icon and the 16:9 tile. This is not an official Emby plugin and is not in the plugin catalog. Compatibility is limited to the exact documented server assembly; other versions and platforms need separate validation. Please include your server build and relevant AlbumAccessTest log lines when reporting results, after removing personal paths and account details.
