Satanasss 12 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Hi, I’d like to bring up an issue regarding .bif file naming. This isn't a problem for movies, but for TV series, the inclusion of the suffix (-320-10) causes major issues when using tools like TMM. For movies, the suffix is removed upon renaming. Furthermore, it serves no purpose, as Emby works perfectly and recognizes the .bif file without it. Could you please remove this suffix for movies and for TV series ? Here is my TMM ticket: https://gitlab.com/tinyMediaManager/tinyMediaManager/-/work_items/3316 Thanks in advance!
Luke 42901 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Hi, we do this because it helps the server know the resolution and interval of the bif images.

The format of the file is very strict and there is no place to put arbitrary data. But the main point of putting the data in the file name is performance. It means you don't have to open up the file to know what it is, and if it could be used by certain clients or not.
Satanasss 12 Posted July 12 Author Posted July 12 Thanks for the feedback. I completely understand; personally, I don't experience any issues or slowdowns without the suffixes. Still, couldn't we have an option to choose whether to use suffixes or not ? Best regards.

Satanasss 12 Posted July 12 Author Posted July 12 Thank you very much, Luke, for taking the time to review the feedback and potentially add this option, which will be greatly appreciated. Best regards, 1
