Just press down on the remote while something is playing, the OSD timeline will come up and you should see those grey text boxes, press down again to get that exact view.

Does it need to have the diagnostics option enabled?

No, not required.

To see the little "Trans" or "Direct" tag on the OSD, you do need to have "Display extra media Info" enabled.

I was close 😂

I knew something needed enabling.

Thanks Eric.

I would like to verify it as well on my end, how do you get this OSD while playing the media @FrostByte?

You can get both to show at the same time (until the OSD auto closes) to see the difference.

I'm running .53 now and almost 2 minutes into the video SFN still hasn't updated.

So EMBY team. What have you changed in the Android TV app in July? Not the Emby for Android but the Android TV app.

No updates on this abandoned app since March 2025. I'm not complaining since it works well, don't break it!

But now TWO updates to it in the Google Play Store in July to version 2.1.51g.

No change log so what have you changed?

There have been multiple updates since then.

See here:

In fact v2.1.53 was released on the beta track yesterday.

Apologies. I was just going off the Play Store release history, not your internal docs.

I'll take a look at the above, thanks for the link. Do you have a location where old non beta APK versions can be downloaded for rolling back if needed?

I don't think they're listed anywhere.

There were hurdles in the Google store that kept us from a new general release and we finally cleared them.

Actually, I think CBers was correct.  I turn debugging on and I see it, turn it off and I no longer see the Trans/Direct box when opening the OSD.

Nice... but I still don't see the new update in Playstore?

If anything, I find the target bit rate is a bit low. MP3 is 192kbs, AAC is 192kbps, EAC3 is 384kbp. Is there any reason to keep it that low?

Sorry, I'm mixing up my settings/apps.

Exactly what new update are you looking for?

Target bitrate?  Where...?  In what context?

Target bitrate?  Where...?  In what context?

- the new version in Play Store

- the transcoded target bit rate for audio

I'm sorry, I still don't know what your question is.  There is a current release and a beta track in the store.  Both have been updated recently.

Ah my bad, I thought version v2.1.53 is released but it is in beta.

When Emby server transcodes, the target audio bit rate is quite low. No I have no specific issue. Just curious why the target bit rate is set so low.

In the thread below Luke describes why they picked those bitrates.  FR is to give user some way to modify.

You can use the diagnostics plug to modify the transcode parameters, but it's very limited.

When will the user modifiable option for the audio bitrate be available? I will be so excited to have this feature! 😉
