Kramerika 19 Posted Saturday at 01:21 AM Posted Saturday at 01:21 AM (edited) I am not sure when this happened, but Emby on my Shield TVs is no longer playing Dolby Digital AC3 2.0 or 5.1 or DTS 5.1. I get no sound. I have to use the Playback Correction to get any sound. We watched a DTS movie just a few weeks ago that played fine. The audio is set to Auto in Playback, but I have not touched any settings in a long long time. This is with two different Shield TVs, one connected to a Sony receiver that supports all of those codecs and another sound bar that does the same. Any advice on how to get it back would be appreciated! *update* After some messing around with restarting the hardware, the sound for Emby on the Shield TV connected to the receiver works again. I cannot get it to work on the other Shield TV connected to my sound bar. Other apps work fine. This is the Android TV version, and the app version is 2.1.48g. Luke 42725 Posted Saturday at 02:56 AM Posted Saturday at 02:56 AM Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Kramerika 19 Posted Saturday at 03:13 AM Author Posted Saturday at 03:13 AM (edited) I sent a log after starting Avengers Age of Ultron which has DTS sound but is not playing any audio. I updated my post above with some new information as I did get it to work on one of my Shield TVs. I also tried the regular Android app on the one that does not work, and the audio was direct playing as it should. It feels like the update to the Android TV version in combination with something specific to the audio connection is causing the issue. The Shield TV is connected to the TV by HDMI. The TV passes through the signal to the sound bar with an optical cable. Also sent logs for Descendants for DD AC3 5.1 and a Seinfeld episode that is DD AC3 2.0 stereo. Justinnnnnnnnnn 0 Posted Saturday at 01:09 PM Posted Saturday at 01:09 PM I had the same problems yesterday with my nvidia shield. It would not play direct audio through the tv with hdmi or my Bluetooth headphones over aptx. I fixed it by downgrade emby for Android TV 2.1.49g to version 2.1.26g and everything started working again and then disabled auto updates. i did test other apps and they had no sound troubles, just this freshly updated emby for Android tv app.
Kramerika 19 Posted Saturday at 10:09 PM Author Posted Saturday at 10:09 PM How do you downgrade Emby for Android TV? I can't find a way to do it.

The app is not going to be able to determine what is supported in that case. Have you tried enabling/disabling the pass thru options in the settings? Or, alternatively, you can just use the standard app if that is working for you.
ChateauPlex 0 Posted Sunday at 07:42 PM Posted Sunday at 07:42 PM I am having the same experience with Android TV app 2.1.48g on Nvidia Shield Pro. Files that played without issue on 7/9 and 7/10 now require triggering playback correction three times before audio comes through. Standard Android app 3.5.36 stops playback after second playback correction. Audio output to stereo USB DAC. Server version 4.9.5.0 on Windows Server 2019 and Ethernet, recent server logs attached. ffmpeg-transcode-371cc02f-f4fc-402e-ae07-4036cbd62763_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-69641276-adf6-44df-9ad7-3589d378e9a2_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-008b2e5f-7be7-4430-9d21-afc937f0e6f5_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-3417c941-ca8f-41bd-a084-f1ad3c420bc4_1.txt

Kramerika 19 Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Just a quick follow-up. I tried the Android (non Android TV) app on both of my Shield TVs, and AC3/DTS sound does work with that app where with the updated Android TV app those codecs no longer work. They did work perfectly fine for years and years and just prior to the update last week with the same configuration in Emby and hardware.

Always remember to provide the important detail as requested in that link: Quote Then add the following information to your report in the forum: Exactly what you were doing and what happened. Include the name of whatever you played if it is a playback problem The time you sent the log (in Eastern Time please - UTC -5) The name of the Emby user on the local server that was logged in at the time
