JsinFate 27 Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Hello Guys, I went to watch a movie last night and I noticed that the subtitles were a few seconds out of sync with the audio. I went into the subtitle section and found that section to make adjustments in subtitle display time was gone. I know I'm not crazy because I've used it before, it used to have a - and a + to increase or decrease the timing. Did this get removed? I went back to the latest release 2 days ago because I had issues with the latest Beta. Thank you.
ebr 16442 Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Hi. Were these internal or external subs? The delay is only implemented for external text subs.
JsinFate 27 Posted June 5 Author Posted June 5 Hello. They are internal subtitles in SRT format muxed inside a MKV container. I just tested on my PC and the option is there but it is not on Emby for AndroidTV.
Luke 42555 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
JsinFate 27 Posted Saturday at 01:07 PM Author Posted Saturday at 01:07 PM I installed Emby for Android and I get the same result, op option to adjust subtitle timing. Something strange is happening with this version when I connect to my public facing server. I can log in, but get this error on anything I try to play: object reference not set to an instance of an object. Attaching screen shots showing Emby for Android on my Android TV for bothy Home private server and my public one.

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
JsinFate 27 Posted Sunday at 07:24 PM Author Posted Sunday at 07:24 PM Unfortunately, after enabling logging and debug logs, there is no option to send the logs from the Home screen or in the settings. I sent the logs to sa2000 and I will upload them here. These logs are for Google TV: Emby for Android 3.5.36 > EmbyServer 4.10.0.14 beta for my public facing EmbyServer. No longer plays movies with Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object Emby for Android TV 4.9.5.0 > EmbyServer 4.10.0.14 bets for public EmbyServer Plays everything fine, but does not have the subtitle options: adjust placement or adjust timing. LOG: Emby.Server.Private.Home belongs to my private home use server. Previous.Logs.0.4.10.0.14 beta.txt embyserver.4.10.0.14 beta.txt Emby.Server.Private.Home.txt

JsinFate 27 Posted Monday at 02:02 PM Author Posted Monday at 02:02 PM Okay, now I'm getting really confused. When I watch something in my web browser, I have the offset option and inside the "Subtitle Appearance" I found the position settings. I'm attaching a screen shot of Cabin in the Woods in 4K, showing the offset options with embedded SRT subtitles in a MKV container. Another odd thing is that when I play the same movie on my Android phone, I am missing the offset option. It is also missing on my TV. I have Emby for AndroidTV and Emby for Android installed. I know that Emby for my TV used to have it because I've used it and even when searching / downloading subtitles in the past I've had to use the offset option to sync them while playing a movie. None of the Emby versions seem to be consistent with how they manage subtitles or allow users to manipulate them. 1

Solution Lessaj 506 Posted Monday at 04:18 PM Solution Posted Monday at 04:18 PM More than likely what you're seeing is for the web app the embedded srt subtitles are being delivered as a VTT so they're "external" and can therefore adjust the offset. On a device that is direct playing the file the offset can't be adjusted for embedded srt. 1

I wonder why that is and why it's only in the web browser?
JsinFate 27 Posted Tuesday at 10:11 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 10:11 AM Do any Devs know if extracting SRT files and and turning them into VTT streams in a web browser is expected behavior?
ebr 16442 Posted Tuesday at 01:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:09 PM 20 hours ago, JsinFate said: I wonder why that is and why it's only in the web browser? Hi. Because browser video players have limited capabilities so they often require remuxing or transcoding whereas your other devices are direct playing. 1 1

You have some control over this in the Transcoding menu: And yes, extracted subtitles are converted to VTT. Paul 1

HI, yes it is. The browser video players don't support embedded subtitle streams, so it has to be supplied separately by the server. 1
