Audio desync after pausing for a minute

So there's this really annoying bug I've been running into for months now. Only when I'm out of my house viewing my content remotely. My server is running on a Linux computer and I'll be watching something on my Apple TV. The Apple TV is nice because I can bring it to a friend's house or hotel very easily and it generally has smooth playback.

The thing is that this darned thing will sort of glitch. I'll pause the show for a couple minutes to grab a beer, hold conversation, make supper, go to the bathroom, you name it. When I come back it will play normally for a few seconds. Then the video jumps back a couple seconds and starts to lag and the audio also jumps back a different amount and is out of sync and it will keep being all messed up for at least a minute and eventually the two catch up to one another and it starts playing normal again. The only way to fix this is to close the movie or tv show and resume it.

Can you please figure out why it keeps doing this and fix it? It happens every single time I leave it paused for long enough and it's pretty annoying.

My server basically uses "letsencrypt" to keep my streaming secure and then I hook it up to a domain and my Apple TV connects with HTTPS. When my Apple TV is on the same WiFi as my server it runs just fine and it does not glitch. Only gets messed up when I'm accessing my discs over the internet where it becomes a problem.
