DatBoiSus 1 Posted Saturday at 11:16 AM Posted Saturday at 11:16 AM Hello, a few years back I made my Emby server and it worked great, all my media was folder structured the recommended way, with movies inside their own folders with a matching name. So, Movies / Interstellar (2014) / Interstellar (2014).mkv With some movies having subfolders for extras, or having multiple versions with filenames denoting as such. And shows are, Shows / Name (year) / Season 1 / episodes I've always liked using the folder view, because I can compile movies by franchise into a folder, instead of having all of them dumped into the "movies" view. It's also great for anime because I like to keep the shows and their movies together, so it would be a franchise folder that has Season 1, the movie that comes between seasons, & Season 2 all next to each other sorted by release date, and it worked fine. A year ago I moved, and my server's drive got completely corrupted. I had to reinstall Debian and Emby, and with that version, I was having a ton of issues. I gave up and haven't touched it for a while. Today I updated it to the latest version, and it fixed pretty much all of my issues, but I have one annoying one. When using the folder view, it displays shows just fine, with the proper name including special characters, and with the date shown in the smaller font below the title. But, movies don't do that. It shows every movie as its named folder, and when you click it, it just jumps to the movie because it's the only piece of media in there. The multi-version dropdown kinda works, but there's a few places it has different kinds of glitches. The only way I can get a movie to appear as a piece of media in folder view (and not a folder itself) is for it to be "loose" with the file not inside of a name-matched folder. I've played around with a bunch of settings and putting additional stuff inside the movie folders but can't get it to be like it used to.

Solution DatBoiSus 1 Posted Monday at 12:44 AM Author Solution Posted Monday at 12:44 AM (edited) For anyone else wondering, you have to set the library's folder scanning mode to "legacy". I tried that at first but I didn't realize that I had to wait for all of my libraries to build (several hours) before I could attempt a re-scan using legacy mode, otherwise choosing to scan just does nothing. I stopped the scheduled task and manually scanned the library but I guess it just continued the initial scan using the "default" mode. Thought it was a display issue with folder view but I guess it looks like the new scanning mode just doesn't respect the folder structure that Emby recommends. Side note: I really wish Emby had a default sort order. Every subfolder sorts by alphabetical, and when I change it to sort by release year, it always selects descending order rather than ascending, so I have to hit the drop-down and select it twice, in every folder. Would also be really cool if alphabetical sort had an option to not just have subfolders at the top of the list, but rather, sorted in with the rest of the content in a library.
