robertmontblack 0 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 When I put a movie or series that is in UHD 4K format, it makes repeated pauses (LAG) and in the playback I cannot even execute the action of overtaking or backing it. I think they should update the webos system of LG TVs.
yocker 1614 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 A friend has the same issue. He can fix it by using the compatibility audio track, like for example AC3.
robertmontblack 0 Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 And how do I do that in the app? Thank you for answering me.

SamES 1107 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Yes, unless your server is capable, you're better to avoid TrueHD (and DTS depending on your TV model) as these formats are not supported by LG. Better to stick to a supported format if you have alternate tracks available (AC3, EAC3, etc)
robertmontblack 0 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 My TV is LG C5 brand from 2025. I noticed that the Emby app is not optimized in that webos system.

robertmontblack 0 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 That the playback is not optimized for example and that movies and series in high resolution (UHD 4k) cannot be transmitted fluidly without pausing once.
SamES 1107 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Please attach a copy of the ffmpeg and server log with an example of a playback. It’s not that the app isn’t optimised, LG TV’s don’t support some audio formats so the server must convert them to a compatible format and I suspect that your server doesn’t have enough performance to convert fast enough to support smooth playback You need to ensure a compatible format exists and select that format for playback if you don’t want it to be converted by the server or if your server isn’t capable doing the conversion automatically at a fast enough rate to support smooth playback.
robertmontblack 0 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 In fact, I am receiving a signal from a server that is not in the same country (I am here in the USA and the server in Nicaragua).
yocker 1614 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) LG TVs do not support TrueHD, they pretty much only support AC3 and EAC3. i can recommend a Nvidia Shield Pro. It handles pretty much everything thrown at it so you won't have problems with formats that the LG doesn't support. SHIELD TV Pro Streaming Media Player | NVIDIA Edit: Looking at the picture it seems you are playing a track with AC3. That should work without transcoding afaik. @SamESIn case it is relevant to this thread, as said earlier i have a friend with a LG TV with the same problem. When playing a video with TrueHD (havn't tested any other formats) it gets transcoded by the server to a format that the LG struggles with and causes the player to stop after almost precisely 5 seconds. robertmontblack 0 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 A curious thing is that it is also happening to me with the second-generation Firestick 4k max. If we analyze this image there is a loss of the signal from the server to my TV because it is wanting to decode an audio codec apparently.
Suliamu 50 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 4 minutes ago, robertmontblack said: I am here in the USA and the server in Nicaragua Nicaragua is not really known for fast connections & good peering and a big datacenter industry. I have actually never seen in my life anybody hosting something there or even just somebody offering vserver there. While the audio aspect that is mentioned above might be the culprit on its own, it could very well be also your connection to this specific server.
robertmontblack 0 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 I can only see practically in FULLHD and I cannot do it in UHD
yocker 1614 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Something tells me that @Suliamu is on the right track. Plus, if you are paying for access to that server then please be aware that it is against Emby rules.
robertmontblack 0 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 No Yoker, I am paying for a server. How does your comment help with my problem? Instead of making conspiracy theories, tell me better that you do not know what the problem is.
Suliamu 50 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) 57 minutes ago, robertmontblack said: How does your comment help with my problem? We are trying to pinpoint it. If you are not paying for access to a emby-server of some other person, then how do you do it? Are you hosting a (GPU)-Server in a DC in Nicaragua yourself, which does the transcoding for you? (Would be quite the luxury, because again this country is not your typical Datacenter-location) Or is this a server somewhere in a private house in Nicaragua running through a private customer ISP-line? What are the specs of that contract? Are you sure you have enough upload-bandwith to stream 4K HDR? According to open statistics about provider speed Nicaragua offers a median upload speed of 22.97 Mbps. This would be not enough for your file above. And it would explain why you can stream 1080p, but not 4k. And it would explain why Amazon Stick behaves the same. And just to make it clear, most folks here are not hosting in an "economically aspiring country" (to use well-meaning semantics), and nonetheless are sticking with 1080p. Getting 4k to run smoothly, especially across continents, is not that easy Sir i am afraid to say. And since you are not asking those questions from a sysadmin-side, but from the client(watchers)-side, it looks like you are not administering this server yourself, correct? Anyway, if you pay for you it, or you don't, it doesn't matter, but the person you should contact in that case is the person who gave you the access/account. Edited May 24 by Suliamu 1 2

If you are paying for access to a private server then you are breaking the Emby TOS and we would effectively help you do it. If you are not the admin of the server then some settings on the server could cause the problems and nothing could be done about it. @Suliamuis explaining it very well. To really troubleshoot, replicate the problem and upload a client/server log here. It would make everything much easier to troubleshoot, limit any speculations to what's wrong and help the developers find and fix a protentional problem. 1 2
