Emby refuses to recognize a movie

I have a movie file that I can't get Emby to recognize. It's a MP4 file, and it plays just fine in QuickTime Player. It's in Media/Movies/Romance folders, and everthing else in that folder loads and plays just fine in Emby. Everything except this one movie, "Finding You". I have scanned library files 3 times, and it still does not show up. I can't find any way to manually get Emby to recognize this file and treat it just like everything else. I am in need of help or my wife won't be very happy. Thanks.

How are your files named and organized? It has likely been identified as some other movie and merged/multi-versioned. You can filter your library for duplicate items and see if there are any duplicates that don't belong or, alternatively, remove that movie folder from movies root, delete any NFOs (if present) from that folder, scan media library to clear the db, move it back to reimport, scan media library, post server log afterwards.

The film is named and organized exactly like the other files in that folder. Emby doesn’t have any problems with them. But just to be transparent, the file is Volume/Movies/Romance/Finding You (2020).mp4. I will try your other suggestions as soon as I can. Hopefully that will work.

You should also try with Finding You (2021) as there are no 2020 release dates for that movie with TMDB, assuming that's your primary meta-downloader.

Honestly, I didn't think you were correct. IMDB says it was released in 2020 - but  it turns out, that's when it was released in Spain and on the Internet. It was released here in the USA on May 13, 2021, so I tried that, did a search, and voila! Emby found it. So, much to my surprise, your solution worked. Thank you. And I learned something here. Don't trust the date IMDB lists at the top  of the article. Go deeper and make sure it's the US release date. So, again, thank you.

Specifically, look at TMDB, because that's where (by default) Emby will be looking.  (Note:  Emby doesn't use IMDB, because it costs too much.)

Yes, it did, thank you. And in the process of solving the problem (thanks to the community) I also learned something valuable - rely more on TMDB than on IMDB for data about the movies. Thanks to all who responded.
