Hi,

In emby windows (the windows app store one), isnt there an option to automatically start, and full screen on windows login (I have Auto-login Windows setup)?
I thought there was an option in Emby windows settings for this, but cant find it anywhere.

If not, is this the next best manual hack?

Add Emby Theatre to Windows Startup

  • Press Win + R
  • Type:
    shell:startup
  • Put an Emby Theatre shortcut in that folder.

Hi, what version number of the app are you testing with?

I have no specific comment regarding auto start but if you pin the app to the start bar you can use Win+# to open it - so if it's the first pinned app you can use Win+1 to open it, or Win+3 if it's the third app, etc. If you leave it full screen when you exit it will remember that setting and open full screen.

Thanks but that is for Emby Theatre, it does not work for the Emby App from the Windowqs App store. You cannot follow the steps.

This is NOT for Emby Theater. It is for the Windows Store app.

Please follow the steps exactly and it will work.

Go and try and follow the steps on a recent windows 11 version and the Emby app.

The steps dont work. You cannot do the 3rd point below, try for yourself

Open Start Menu >> All Apps

Scroll down until you see the Emby app icon

Drag-drop it into the Startup folder in the Explorer Window

It only works when you do precisely as instructed.

None of the similar ways that used to work (or are working for non-store apps) are working except this exact procedure.

I see the issue in the steps now. Windows 11 defaults to the 'Category' view unless a user changes it. When in category view, you cannot drag and drop apps across.
You need an extra step to switch to 'Grid' or 'List' views, to enable dragging and dropping an app from the Start menu.

This works for me now thanks.

Oh, I see. I do not even have that selection - probably soem settings difference.

@sa2000 - We should include that note on the FAQ page, could you take a note for this please.

Thanks!

The Emby Windows FAQ article has now been updated to mention the "View: List" option
