tanStaafl 17 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Not one to have a normal problem I offer this: Running the latest Emby server (but this started a few updates ago, so not specific to this itteration) All my videos are on drives local to the server and the network it is on The majority of my newest videos are HEVC x265 Whenever I pause a video, when I come back it may start to play then the audio goes OOS and shortly after the little spinny thingy starts spinning and spinning and.. if and when it comes back it is still OOS. To recover (can't just stop and start, may not start at all, just a spinny thingy) I need to close it, start at the beginning and the jump to the timeframe I paused at, it will then continue on till I pause it again. I have tried every setting for transcoding, off, advanced etc. no joy. I truly believe this is a me thing and I am missing something simple. Any help appreciated. Regards, tanStaafl
Smitty018210 160 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Yeah, I have had this issue for a long time. I just got to the point where I remember not to "pause" any video and stop it instead, then resume the video from that point going forward. It still messes up the audio sometimes, and I have to go through the stop-and-restart process and scan to the right part of the video, just as you said you have to do.
C.S. 96 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 First thing to do is find out if it happens with all client devices or just a particular one.
justinrh 281 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 What client are you using? This is a known problem with Android TV. I fix it by rewinding once (the 10 second back default). It is not a 'you thing', as it just should not happen.
C.S. 96 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I use android tv a lot and I haven't run into this issue. Is there something that triggers it?
Jdiesel 1451 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I've experienced this. You don't need to stop and restart the video, just skipping back a few seconds will fix it. It seems to happen then the Android screensaver kicks in. 1

Specifically for my situation when watching MPEGs, I see it sometimes when I fast-forward. It happens less with MKV containers, maybe never with AVC MP4s.

Solution tanStaafl 17 Posted May 24 Author Solution Posted May 24 Well, I said at the beginning it was probably something simple. I use Windows Browsers. It doesn't matter whether it is on the server itself, or on a remote PC accessing. I've tried all the browsers and the result is the same. I had tried Emby Theater waaaay back when it first came out, and to be honest, it sucked. I was used to the version used in browsers and it was nothing like it.. I never revisited. I installed it today and VIOLA! All my OOS problems when pausing went away AND thank you Emby for giving it the same interface that the browser version has had all along!! Problem solved. 1

Glad that works for you. I use custom CSS, so I'm stuck on web browser.
tanStaafl 17 Posted May 25 Author Posted May 25 @Smitty018210I have noticed that if it is not an HEVC x265, just a good ol' x264 or .avi it rarely has this problem. I think it has to do with the way the browsers handle the codecs since disabling Transcoding doesn't help. 1
