Emby Collection Manager Plugin

Hey everyone,

I’ve created a new plugin for Emby called Collection Manager Plugin.

The goal is to automate organization in Emby across studios, franchises, and user-based playback experiences, while keeping everything flexible and configurable.

Studio collections

The plugin can automatically create and maintain collections based on major studios, helping keep your movie library structured without manual work.

Binge playlists (franchises and universes)

It also supports binge playlists, designed specifically for:

• Movie franchises (multi-part series)
• TV universes with spin-offs and interconnected shows

These playlists are meant to provide a clean, ordered “watch-through” experience across an entire cinematic or TV universe.

Smart playlists (per-user)

The biggest feature is smart playlists, generated on a per-user basis.

Each user can define their own rules using conditions such as:

• Media type (movies / series)
• Genre
• Studio
• Collection membership
• Release year or year range
• Rating thresholds
• Play status (watched / unwatched / in progress)
• User-specific tags or custom fields
• Any combination of the above

These playlists update dynamically as the library changes and as user behavior changes.

Note: this section is visible on the users' preferences only in web browsers (desktop and mobiles) due to Emby's limitation on exposing plugin configuration to users (Emby devs help me out here).

Metadata sources

The plugin can optionally use external metadata sources to enhance matching and grouping:

• TMDB API (optional but recommended)
  Improves identification of movies, franchises, and related content. Requires a personal API key and user consent for usage.
• TVMaze public API
  Used for TV show relationships, including series structure and connected shows where available.

Control and flexibility

• The admin controls everything globally (rules, structure, defaults, and availability)
• Each user can opt out at any time, without affecting others

How it works

You define the rules once, and the plugin continuously maintains:

• Studio collections
• Franchise / universe binge playlists
• Personalized smart playlists per user

Everything stays updated automatically as your library evolves.

I just checked and it is under general section in the plugin catalog. Picture attached.

I know sometimes through the mobile device app a lot of plugins are not showing up in the catalog - try in your web browser.
