夜神 悦 1 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 I want to add a second sort order for music on the Emby web APP, just like iTunes. The first sort order would be by album artist name, and the second sort order would be by year. When the album artists are the same, it should sort by year. How should I modify the Emby Server configuration file? The above inquiry was translated by AI. Please excuse any errors. 1

user24 386 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Hi, I do not think this is easily possible with Emby... While you can set the primary Sort Order of Albums to be Album Artists (ascending or descending), the secondary Sort Order is a fixed default of Sort Title (ascending ↑) or Sort Title (descending ↓) depending upon your primary Sort Order. (e.g.) Album Artist (ascending ↑) gives this: (e.g.) Album Artist (descending ↓) gives this: The Sort Title for Albums is defined in the Metadata Editor (e.g.): It therefore is possible to change the secondary Sort Order to Year by doing this (e.g.): This is the ascending result (e.g.): While this may achieve the result you want, it will take a long time to do manually if you have a large music library and it may mess up other sorting options? Therefore, I do not really recommend it. I just wanted to see what was possible, as a test. If anyone knows an easy way to do this, I would also be interested… It is a good idea though and something I would like also. I mostly always want to see an Artists Albums in chronological order (ascending or descending). A quick look at MusicBrainz, Discogs, Wikipedia (plus Artist websites and more) always seem to use Year rather than Title. It would be great if Emby could either change the secondary default from Title to Year or provide a selectable secondary option, as you suggest.

Luke 42528 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Hi, it's not currently possible but I think this is a good idea.
