Hi, I realize this is not an earth-shattering problem,.  Since yesterday Emby (the app) suddenly takes forever to load. I'm on an Nvidia Shield. Both the server and the app are on the shield (although stored on an external hard drive). It always loaded very quickly. Since yesterday the app takes up to four minutes to load. (I always think it's not going to!) Before that it loaded in a matter of seconds.

I haven't changed anything. Any ideas?

Should I try re-installing something?

Hi.  Which app?  What version?

My guess would be that it is trying to connect to a server address it cannot reach and maybe retries some other variations until it finally hits what is correct.  Did anything on your network change?  Try signing out and then signing back into the app.

Hi. Sorry, but that does not tell us anything.  There are two apps and multiple possible versions that you could believe are up to date.

What is the actual version number of the app?

he server is version 4.9.3.0

the app is version 2.1.26g

(is that what you need?)

I'm afraid signing out and in didn't do the trick

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

I'm getting "volley error?"

I reinstalled the app.

I'd try to reinstall the server but I get a "timed out message" on 2 downloader apps when I try to go to the page.

I've decided to try to move the server to a new Shield. (heaven help me!)

I've installed the server and the app.

I'll have to work on this tomorrow.

Is there a guide for how to do this somewhere?

I re-installed the server and the app now. Still getting a "dollying" error message. It EVENTUALLY finds the server, but it's a problem. The server and the app are on the same shield!  Any other ideas?

Ensure that the dashboard for the server shows the exact correct LAN address for accessing the server from the Shield itself.

That may point to general network issues...

Ok.... so can I set up a new server on another shield AND keep the old one? (until I know the new one is working and the metadata has all been read)

What does the LAN address show?

Sure.

I THINK I FOUND A SOLUTION!  (That doesn't involved starting over!)

I switched the auto log out to never. So once the app has connected to the server, which may take a few minutes, it remains connected every time I open it!

Yay!!!

I am setting up my libraries on a new shield.

It sees the nfo files. (When i click edit metadata the sort name is changed to what I changed it to.)

BUT when I sort by title it isn't using the sort name. It's using the "original name."

I have 2500 movies, I have changed the sort name on every one of them, so they are in order from favorite to least favorite.

Why do you think it isn't using the "sort name?"

Help?

It seems to read some and not others. I will let the scan complete.

That is most likely the key.

Hi, has this helped?

To be honest, I just started over (on a different shield). Since EVERYTHING had nfo files it wasn't really a chore (just edited artwork). And things are back to snappy.

Thank YOU!!
