Blueskies278 55 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) Hi, On the web version, clicking an episode plays it immediately. On Android, this is currently a two-step process — clicking an episode then clicking Play is required to start playback. Would it be possible to have the same one-click playback functionality on Android? Thanks Web version Screen Recording 2026-05-09 at 20.57.11.mov Edited May 9 by Blueskies278 2

ebr 16429 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Hi. How would you get to the episode details page? On the web app, you are actually clicking on a "play" icon that appears when the mouse hovers over the thumb.

It would be great to tap an episode thumbnail to start playback directly, without the two-step process — similar to how the web version works but without the play icon over the thumbnail. Plex handles this well on Android: tapping the thumbnail starts playback immediately, while episode info is shown on the fly. I've noticed Emby doesn't have this, so adding it would be a nice improvement. Plex; episode info is shown on the fly plex.mp4 Edited May 11 by Blueskies278 1
arrbee99 1841 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Personally, would find it more annoying to click on a thumb to get details, and find the stupid thing starts playing instead. In the web, I disabled the play icon appearing at all. 1 1

You're missing the point — you wouldn't click the thumbnail to get info details, you'd be browsing then click the desired episode to start playback. That's exactly where Plex has the advantage: the info is displayed on the fly as you browse without an extra step. This is what Emby is missing. Personally I find the two-step playback process on Android annoying, but I do agree with you about the play icon appearing in the web version. In a nutshell I would like the android version to mirror the web without the play icon in the thumbnail. Edited May 11 by Blueskies278 1

You should be able to press the PLAY button on your remote when the item is highlighted. If you have a remote with a PLAY button of course. 1 1
Solution ebr 16429 Posted May 11 Solution Posted May 11 Oh, yeah, if you are on a TV, then you just need a "play" button on your remote for direct playback. That will already work. 1
