richt 95 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Since TOS 7 is rumored to be nearing release I just did am upgrade to TOS 7 on my Terramaster F4-423 and encountered a few problems with Emby, Immediatly after upgrade Emby loaded but seemed to be a reset to an unconfigured & unlicensed state. I restored my backup and was able to log in to Emby normally. The version of Emby offered by the TOS App Center is 4.9.0.72. My running version is 4.9.3.0 which was installed manually before the upgrade with a download from Emby's github. Hardware Acceleration is available under Settings - Transcoding. This was not available under TOS 6. Have not yet tested if it actually works. I am unable to play live TV using Linux Emby Beta or a web browser. "No Compatible streams available..." Some library files play and others do not. I'll look into this and see if it is a container or codec problem. In early testing the playback problem persisted with Hardware Acceleration set to Yes or set to No Live TV playback works as expected with the Android client. Logs are attached, There was no FFMPEG log. hardware_detection-63913737218.txt embyserver.txt
Luke 42505 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Hi, are you able to try the beta server and see how things compare?
richt 95 Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 @Luke I will test the beta, however in running and testing the current production version I noticed a few other potential problems. Keep in mind I have installed and uninstalled multiple times over the course of troubleshooting. This generally follows installing Emby from the Terramaster App Center (4.9.0.72) and then upgrading to 4.9.3.0 through the App Center manual installation function. One item that perplexed me is shown in this series of folder listings. As you can see the emby data folders are in /Volume1/@apps/emby/emby-server/-ffdetect/ ***Admin***@TNAS:~# ls /Volume1/@apps DockerEngine LogCenter ModBase1 Snapshot USBCopy docker emby ffmpeg ffmpeg51 timeFile ***Admin***@TNAS:~# ls /Volume1/@apps/emby/ INFO cache config.ini emby-server emby.lang images init.d install install_data.json logs run version ***Admin***@TNAS:~# ls /Volume1/@apps/emby/emby-server/ -ffdetect bin etc lib licenses share system ***Admin***@TNAS:~# ls /Volume1/@apps/emby/emby-server/bin/ clinfo emby-clinfo emby-ffdetect emby-ffmpeg emby-server emby-vainfo ffdetect ffmpeg ffprobe vainfo ***Admin***@TNAS:~# ls /Volume1/@apps/emby/emby-server/-ffdetect cache config data logs metadata plugins root transcoding-temp Note that some of the web browser playback issues were resolved by switching from Firefox to Chromium. Will re-investigate once I install Emby Beta. Hardware Acceleration had problems in both 4.9.072 or 4.9.3.0, although more testing is required. QSV encoding seems to be a problem with this Intel GPU. This is a weird one. Go to Live TV, Guide and select and play the live stream of the first station in my guide listing. Exit Live stream back to TV Guide screen and the station I just played is now at the bottom of my guide listings. repeat procedure with next "top" listing and it also drops to the bottom. A guide refresh restores the desired TV station order, but repeating steps 1-3 causes the problem again. I get the feeling that the Emby package for Terramaster will need a slight revision for TOS7. Not sure when TOS7 will be released so this doesn't need to be a high priority for you. In the meantime I set up an Emby Docker container on the NAS that is working just fine, except for some transcoding problems using the QSV encoding. Any chance we can get a VAAPI option?
