Steve Cartman 11 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 1. New tag is added called: ABCDE (note this tag is not used elsewhere) 2. Tag is removed from the item 3. New Tag is added called: abcde Result: Tag ABCDE still shows. (abcde does not show) It seems that Tags are never deleted from the database, even if they are not on any items. Because Tags are cased insensitive, the next time the tag is added (with a different case), the orginal tag from the database is used.
kbeck 72 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 (edited) In my experience, that's not completely true. Tag case is something I've been fighting for a couple of years. Here's how I work around it a recently as last month....... If the tag you want to keep is abcde, then create a 3rd tag like abcde-temp. Go to Bulky Editor and search for all tags with ABCDE. Add abcde-temp and then remove ABCDE. it should remove all variations. Restart the server and then do a Library scan. The empty tags should be gone. Go back to Bulky Editor and search abcde-temp. Add abcde and then remove abcde-temp. Restart once more and re scan to remove the empty abcde-temp. You can manually replace if it's only a dozen or so but I usually have a 100 or more of 1 tag and a simple typing mistake can really mess you up. I also use a free app called ClipClip Pro to keep all the tags and paste them from there. Edited May 7 by kbeck
