Neminem 1729 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) Calling out to all unRaiders. When you update to unRaid 7.2.5 you might have issues with Nvidia support in your docker containers. Read this https://forums.unraid.net/topic/198521-unraid-os-version-725-available/#findComment-1620492 to fix it. I'm still not sure if this fix will persist a shutdown or reboot of unRaid. Here is a quick how to. unRaid 7.2.5 Nvidia Bug Might needs to be done after Reboot and after shutdown. I really like my UPS right now Stop Docker Open terminal copy / paste the following lines into terminal. 1 line at a time. nvidia-ctk cdi generate --output=/etc/cdi/nvidia.yaml nvidia-ctk runtime configure --runtime=docker --cdi.enabled Start Docker Edited May 1 by Neminem 1 1
Solution Neminem 1729 Posted May 1 Author Solution Posted May 1 Just to update this. It has been fixed Follow these instructions https://forums.unraid.net/topic/98978-plugin-nvidia-driver/page/232/#findComment-1620557 1
yocker 1577 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Isn't it just that the driver has been updated and that 10 series and below cards are no longer supported on the the newer drivers? If so choosing a lower version in the plugin should fix it.
Neminem 1729 Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 No it was not that simple. I was on the last driver version that was supportet / recommended. Hence the quick fix, was to do the following, and that would not be persistent. 5 hours ago, Neminem said: nvidia-ctk cdi generate --output=/etc/cdi/nvidia.yaml nvidia-ctk runtime configure --runtime=docker --cdi.enabled What the updated plugin did was to automatic do the above and persistently apply on reboot / shutdown and reapply after driver update. The funny thing is that it only afflicted docker containers, and docker was updated to 29. 1
yocker 1577 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Okay, thought it was just the problem that happened last time the nvidia plugin updated. Thanks for the information! 1

Even if it's just for transcoding the bus powered cards can still do a fair amount of transcodes without breaking a sweat. Even a potato P1000 can handle up to 14 streams but needs hacked drivers due to the 8 session limit.

My server is just using old parts from the main computer, so i will never have something like quadro cards to put in it.

Those cards will not work for me, they only have 4GB ram. I use my 1080 8GB for some light AI fun, OCR and / or subtitle translation. I you my iGPU with Emby Edited May 3 by Neminem

Tbh i see no reason to spend money on a quadro card when the old card i have does the job. Besides, i'm in the process of moving my Emby server to another small computer with a Intel CPU that can handle the transcodes as well. Doing this so i can do some heavy stuff on the main server without affecting Emby and freeing PCI lanes for a HBA card. 1
