S4ss3r0355 0 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Hello, I have a local dns record for my emby server that works when i type it in the browser but when i try to use on my nvidia shield pro in the emby app it will not resolve, it just give me an error. I have searched the forums but could not find a clear answer to this, i am just curious if there is a solution?

Apotropaic 73 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 What is the local dns entry configured on? Is it on your router or a separate device? Will need a bit more information about your network setup to understand why this is happening. 1
Luke 42505 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Hi, it sounds like the shield just can't resolve the local dns name. The same thing happens with Chromecast devices. They can't either and so we have to determine the ip address and pass it that for playback.

Unless you mean it doesn't work properly without specifying a domain, then yes I can see that being an issue. For example, when I changed the DHCP server for one of my subnets from one service to another on the new service it no longer advertises the search domains, I had to manually configure that on my devices so things like "nslookup emby" work properly, but I don't think you can do that on Android so the FQDN is needed.
