Why put Writers and Directors first in Cast & Crew section?

Why not have a setting to reorder? Or toggle them on/off, or list them in the about section? Or put them after the actors? Why prioritize them first? Movie posters and advertising don't include images of the writers/directors (except maybe a few Hitchcock titles). Half the time, there aren't even images available for them, especially writers. For me, it makes the page look half-ass with generic icons listed first.

I agree, I detest seeing those first - but Emby actually shouldn't be doing that if obtaining metadata itself, only if importing external NFOs written in that order, so the question is are you obtaining metadata externally,, with some other software?

Emby is pulling the metadata. I don't use any external method(s).

Hm. Have you tried Refreshing Metadata>Replace All on an item and see does it make any difference? Also, what server version you're running?

Can you provide a specific example and metadata provider order as have only seen issues with third party metadata order per the nfo file.

If I refresh metadata for an individual title, the order changes, but I have a huge library (5k+ titles), and refreshing metadata for the entire library does not affect the order. Also, each new title I add shows up with writer/director first.
Server Version 4.9.3.0 running in a docker on UnRaid.

Adding the movie with your metadata order I got this.

Even using your nfo I get my same results.

Any idea of why I'm getting the order I am getting?

@Lukemay have to comment as the only way I can reproduce is via changing their order in nfo file.  As I get the same results in 4.9 and 4.10.

How did you test it?

How did you test it?

Added dummy file and allow Emby to fetch it with TMDB/OMDB as shown above.

Then removed the media did a full scan.

Added dummy file with nfo provided and got the same results, Cast first with Crew at the end.

@denzoidhas this helped?

Sort of, if I refresh metadata, the writers and director get put at the end. But whenever I add a new movie, the writer(s)/director appears first (this consistently happens), and I have to manually refresh the metadata for every new title added.

When you add a new movie, is something creating an nfo file that Emby is importing?

I use Emby with these settings:

when you add a new movie you're probably also adding an nfo file created by something else that has the people in this order that you don't like.

Emby is writing the nfo files, I am not using any other s/w that writes nfo's. Interestingly, I added a movie the other day, and it shows the director first in the Emby UI, but inspecting the nfo, the actors are listed first. I've attached a screenshot and the nfo, any clue what's going on?
