podonnell 48 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) Hi, When I am remotely watching a movie, subtitle extraction is taking over 20 minutes to appear on the video. These are embedded subtitles as I don't have .srt files in the media location itself. Is there anything that can be done to speed this up? I also tried to use my own .srt file and placed it next to the file and rescanned the library, but I do not see it listed as an option on the video. Update: This appears to be an issue specific to the Emby Windows app. I just loaded two movies up in my browser with the same remote endpoint, and subtitles appeared instantly. Luke 42359 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
pwhodges 2041 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 In the server's transcoding settings you can find "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly". If that is not set, the whole file may be scanned to extract the subtitles, and on high bit-rate files this can take a long time. How is that setting in your system? Paul

Paul Looks like that is on unfortunately. I am just going to avoid using the Emby app as that is the only place I am seeing the issue. Visiting my server in the browser, my subtitles come on immediately. Tested a few videos and the pattern remained the same. Edited Monday at 06:19 PM by podonnell
