add backdrop functionality

Hi

 

Yes I know there is backdrop. Unfortanly for me when I activate it it also activates on the "home-page" which I dont want to. All I want is to be enable the backdrops to whereever I want but to exclude the "home-page", looks weird. A timer to the backdrops would be nice to.

Backdrops will display in the media detail pages regardless of that setting, the setting in "Emby Web" -> "General" only affects the homepage.

What I DO want is backdrops on the following thing:

• On the specific MOVIE
• On the specific TV-series and in the seasons as well, either from the tv-show itself or specific for the season
• For the specific actor/actress

Meaning if Im in one of these (see above), the backdrop should rotate between those pics I have in the backdrop every eg 5 seconds. 

I DONT want it in the following

• On the Home-page
• If I click a specific movie-category or tv-show category, I dont want it there either
• Nor do I want it in the playlist

In another words, I want it simple, in the movies, tv-shows and the actors/actresses and if possible able to change the times between 5-15 seconds. 

Im not sure about the other categorys like audiobooks, books, music. Mostly because I havent got to them yet. Hope it clarifies, if not, ask away again.

For Emby Web the backdrops already work as marked above.  Are you asking about some other Emby platform?  Perhaps with Web Emby, you are not getting to the correct backdrop selection feature.  It's there already, in Beta and I think with the main Emby, as well.

Yes I am aware that backdrops work in the DO-list when I enable the backdrops but then so do the backdrops in the DONT-list as well. 

I want the DONT's NOT to be enabled when I enable the function. Like I want to choose where the backdrops should exist.

Backdrops should already show in your "DO" list even when that option is turned off.  Can you please show us some screen shot examples?

Emby does all this by default with backdrops disabled.

Currently have no control over rotation interval as is about every 25 seconds at least in the web client.

Actor/Actress do not when navigate by name (Unless you have assigned backdrops as by default they don't exist) but if you click on them from a Cast row, they will use the backdrops from the item you selected them from.

All clients should be the same/similar or have the option, but what client are you referring to also.

Sure no problems, here u go. 

Pics 11-14 are with backdrops OFF

Pics 21-24 are with backdrops ON

Backdrop OFF

12 = homepage = off and no pic

13 = movie-content-type (i call it category) = off and no pic

14 = specific actress = off and pics show but only shows the first pic, doesnt show the next pic in backdrop after 20 sec

Backdrop ON

22 = homepage = ON and shows pic and this is what I dont want it show, and shows next pic after 20 sec as it should

23 = movie-content-type (i call it category) = on and shows pic and this is what I dont want it show, and shows next pic after 20 sec as it should

24 = specific actress = ON and pics show as it should and after 20 sec shows the next backdrop pic, so this one works

Only one I will have to test is Actor as by default they don't have backdrops and show none unless manually applied or select from a specific cast row and rotate per that items backdrops.  Everything else is Emby's default behavior.

But another question would be how many backdrops do you have assigned to the example above for Alexandra?

 

Tested applying 3 backdrops to this actor and they rotated.  As itemdetails pages will always use item backdrops.

Yes, I manually applied 4 pics to Alexandra, but if backdrop i OFF then it shows only the first one, the rest 3 show whenever the fell like, sometimes the work and sometimes they dont. But if I turn the backdrop ON then they definitely work. So bug?

What client as I tested in web client and they rotated without issue with backdrops disabled and enabled.

Tested in 4.9.6.0 and 4.10.0.10 with same results, web client rotated after about 25 seconds.

what i have is the latest 4.9.30 and like i said when its off it work "sometimes" but when its on the it work as it should.

unfortunately when its ON then the home and  movie-category, tv-show category and the playlists show also the backdrops which i dont want to. Any possibility to split or exclude this in future releases so i can choose where i want the backdrops to be viewed?

I think you may be confusing some background appearing for some pages when the page is just showing the previous background, when you go to a page without a background assigned to it.

We should be more specific about what that option controls. It is really just for the random home screen backdrops. It doesn't affect the actor page.
