AnSniper 19 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) This bug exists in macOS and Windows. I installed the Emby app from the App Store and Microsoft Store, but they both have a problem where the Drop shadow doesn't work in the subtitle settings. No matter which one I set, the final display effect is the same, and the default effect is that the black border on the subtitles is thick and not very beautiful. But in iPhone and iPad clients, and even in the web interface of browsers, they can achieve the corresponding effect perfectly. I hope to fix this bug in macOS and Windows, but I am not sure if this bug also exists in other clients. Because I only used the Emby client in the macOS and Windows app stores. Additionally, there seems to be an issue with the background color/background opacity, and I hope it can be fixed together. Also, is the macOS client missing too many features, as it seems like it hasn't been updated for a long time. Drop shadow/Background color/Background: the default effect is that the black border on the subtitles is thick and not very beautiful. The above content comes from translation software, and I hope it can clearly express my suggestions. Edited 12 hours ago by AnSniper
Luke 42304 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hi, if you enable a background color then I think you would skip the drop shadow. In other words I don't think it makes sense to enable both at the same time.
AnSniper 19 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago @LukeI don't think so. When you choose Text color = White and Drop shadow = None, the subtitle area of the video is exactly white at this time. Using a contrasting Background color to make the subtitles clear is a good choice. Please ensure that the Drop shadow can work properly on the previous client, thank you. The main purpose of "Background color/Background opacity" is also to distinguish the subtitles from the video screen.
AnSniper 19 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago @LukeThe current issue is that none of them (Drop shadow/Background color/Background opacity) are working. At least let's make Drop shadow achieve the same effect as on the iPhone/iPad client first.
AnSniper 19 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago @LukeLet's first discuss the bug and then the significance of doing this. Otherwise, why would we create a feature that exists and functions properly on client A, but on client B, it exists yet is unusable? So, if you consider this a bug, please fix it or remove it from client B, as it serves no purpose at all.
