famarch 0 Posted Friday at 06:54 PM Posted Friday at 06:54 PM Hello, I am seeing a reproducible issue with the Apple TV app and would like to clarify whether this is a known problem or a bug. My Emby server is reachable externally via DDNS on port 8096. What works: - access via Safari and other web browsers using the DDNS address - access via the iPhone/iOS Emby app using the same DDNS address What does not work: - access via the Apple TV Emby app using the same DDNS address So the basic pattern is: DDNS + port 8096 works in browser and iOS app, but not in the Apple TV app. My question is: Is there a known issue with the Apple TV app regarding external connections via DDNS and port 8096, especially compared to Safari and the iOS app? I would also like to know whether the Apple TV app handles DDNS, IPv4/IPv6, or external HTTP connections differently from the iOS app and browser access. Thanks. appleTV: A2169, tvos 26.4 emby app on tvOS latest version
Luke 42266 Posted yesterday at 09:36 PM Posted yesterday at 09:36 PM Hi, what exactly happens? How are you initiating the connection?
cul8rmom1 6 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago i have no problems doing this. My ddns services are provided by my synology account. I am actually routing thru 2 subnets to get to my machine without issue. Yeah so are you adding the connection manually? Are you disabling your wifi on your cell devices when you test? what is the dns server on your devices? (apple can do some weird stuff with their secure dns and icloud relay on non appletv devices.) does it work with the ipaddress and not the name?(if it doesnt work with the resolved ip you have other issues.)
