robbie1407 5 Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 failed playback server log attached. I do not see any direct stream separate logs thanks embyserver.txt
robbie1407 5 Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 just a quick update, if I force mpegts to transcode. it does play okay, although it does take 30 seconds to start. so it would seem it is an issue with the direct play? thanks
SamES 1107 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Yep, that sounds like a mixed bag. Not quite sure what to suggest. If they're all DirectPlay and sometimes work and other times don't then there possibly isn't much we can do. Not sure what country you're in, but I recall someone reporting issues a few years ago with UK recordings where commercial breaks could be played in a different format to the main program, so depending on whether you started playback during the program or the commercial you could get different results, although I'm not entirely sure this is your issue.
robbie1407 5 Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 im uk. also one more update.. i added the video without the meta data to emby as you would with other collections and the video acts exactly the same and does not playback. I have a fairly large library of ts videos recorded from my satellite tv box and have never had an issue with playback. it just seems to be the ones recorded on emby is there nothing different with the files apart from one is interlaced? the video that does not direct play back is on a tv channel without adverts. thanks

There are some differences, but hard to know whether they are meaningful. I use a HDHomerun in Australia and I always find the raw .ts output to be a bit buggy. Audio out of sync and random other issues, but I automatically convert recordings to mkv using Emby's built-in conversion option and they play fine, even when the same .ts file has issues. I'm not sure if it is something in the way that Emby writes the recording, or if it's on the HDHomerun end, or it's a TV issue (Samsung in my case), but either way, I've never found the raw .ts files to be overly reliable
robbie1407 5 Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 I think it must be just an issue with that model of tv as they play back ok on other devices. did the 2 recordings playback ok on your device? So is it possible to set a automatic convert just on recordings only? I did have a look in the emby server but couldn't see it. many thanks

Click the ... menu on the Media Folder on the Dashboard for your recorded shows, the select Convert I select these options, you may want something different. After that, you can review and edit these options from the Conversions section on the Manage Server page You can adjust how often the conversion job runs in the Scheduled tasks section, mine runs hourly 1
robbie1407 5 Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 thanks for this, I'm using this option now, works a treat. quick question... when I updated the server to 4.9.3.0 I noticed content I have in a mixed folder will not sort by release date anymore and the tags will not show. i have nfo files for this. worked fine before I updated. is there a reason why the updated server would stop this? thanks

No sure about the sorting issue. I would suggest posting a new topic in the server forum for this issue in case it is a known issue.
