robbie1407 5 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 hi there, i just recently set up my Live tv again on emby server. I'm having problems playing back some recordings I have made through live tv on the LG OLED, but in windows emby they playback perfectly. most recordings do this on the tv, some are okay, The tv playback shows the picture for 1 second then goes blank. i have attached a video showing this on both devices and the log of the lgtv playback, thanks lgtv.MOV

robbie1407 5 Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 - I have a problem with playing back recordings on my LG OLED65CS6LA. It happens on most recordings. it seems to be only this device that is affected. windows app seems okay. Using hd homerun tuner. emby server on synology nas. When i go to playback a recording it will show a still screen of the recording for about 1 second then just go blank. All you can do after this is press backup to return to previous screen. - I have tried seeking forwards and backwards but emby does not respond. I have tried restarting emby server and synology nas. i have played back on windows app and LGOLED55BV7 and all recordings play back okay. - I have not seen any error messages. - I have attached server log - I have attached 2 videos, one of the LG and one of the windows app to show playback issue on the LG many thanks Robbie embyserver.txt

robbie1407 5 Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 After recording a few more different things, i am unable to play back as the recordings are not showing up in any of the emby apps. Although i have checked the folder where they are recorded too and they have recorded.
robbie1407 5 Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 I have some information that might help. The Recordings that do not play on the LG TV will play if i start them off on the windows emby app and resume on the LGTV. The problem seems to be they recordings will not play from the beginning on the LGTV thanks
robbie1407 5 Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 does anyone have any other ideas what this could be? thanks
visproduction 361 Posted March 28 Posted March 28 So, is LG not recognizing the media as a playable video? Can Emby be tweaked to recognize these files? Are the files perhaps created from a recording and not showing all the startup metadata at the beginning of the file. If the video is remuxed to get the video data setup correctly, will those remuxed video media then begin to play? I think it's reasonable to guess that LG does some test before accepting a media file, as playable. If you remux and try the new file and that fixes it, that would point towards this possibility. I am just guessing. Media quite often has strange metadata setup and this causes failure to playback on some apps and software all the time.
robbie1407 5 Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 hi there, I have made 2 short recordings off the Emby tv guide. one plays back ok, the other doesn't on my LG OLED65CS6LA. They both playback ok on emby windows app and LG OLED55B7V. I have not touched the file structures meta data etc... I have zipped up both below. Hopefully somebody can unzip and put into there pvr folder to test playback, or look to see if they can figure out why it wont play back on my tv. thanks @SamES PLAYS OK.zip WONT PLAY.zip

They both playback ok on emby windows app and LG OLED55B7V. I have not touched the file structures meta data etc... I have zipped up both below. Hopefully somebody can unzip and put into there pvr folder to test playback, or look to see if they can figure out why it wont play back on my tv. thanks @SamES PLAYS OK.zip 9.32 MB · 1 download WONT PLAY.zip 27.84 MB · 1 download The one that won't play is interlaced, so that may be part of the problem. Can you please play them both back, and for the one works, please confirm the playback method via stats for nerds - I suspect it is DirectPlay for the container, video and audio. For the one that does not play, does it produce any ffmpeg directstream or transcode logs? If it does, can you please attach? Thanks
robbie1407 5 Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 hi there, I have checked back and the interlaced one does not play, however there is other interlaced recordings that do play. I checked this in mediainfo. there is other recordings with scan type MBAFF, some play, some do not. so I don't think this is the problem. To confuse you even more i have recorded the same programme on the same channel, a quiz show, 1 plays 1 does not. it seems to be luck of the draw. if I start a playback on the other lg tv or emby windows app and resume on the lgtv with the issue, it will playback ok. just does not playback from the beginning. ive attached to pictures with stats for nerds, everything i watch on emby is direct play. thanks
