Light Channel Logo Always Used On Dark Theme And Incorrect Light Channel Logo

Hi all,

Bit of a weird one here. I've been making some changes to my IPTV setup recently and have an annoying issue going on with the channel logos. I was previously using IPTV Boss to output an m3u channel list and then matching these channels to the Emby Guide Data using Sky Q (London SATELLITE) E1 Postcode as the Lineup, this worked fine in terms of channel logos for about a year. I've recently setup Dispatcharr and now I do the same as before but just with a Dispatcharr creating the m3u file instead of IPTV Boss. I'm using the same guide data and linking it to the same channel number I did with the IPTV Boss setup but now in the channel guide "light with colour" logos are being used when I have a dark theme set. Also the Sky Sports Golf light logos seem to be incorrect. I haven't added a server log output at the moment as I'm not sure if that will show anything helpful for this. But I have included a number of screenshots below to show what I mean.

406 is Sky Sports Golf - See below for the 3 images scaped. The 4 TNT channels are all also using the "Light with Colour" logo, but for some reason TNT 4 is white. And also the "Dark Version" of the TNT logo is smaller vertically so I would prefer this as it makes the channel block narrower which is what I had before as it seemed to default to the "Dark Version"

These are my display settings for the user. I assume it's meant to pick the logo based on the theme. I have also tried setting the settings theme to dark just in case.

I've tried deleting the images from the edit view and then refreshing the guide data and the same thing happens. The logos also display that way for all users I have setup and I've tested from my laptop browser and also from the Android App on my phone and they show the same.

Does anyone have any ideas on this as it's annoying me even though it's not breaking functionality.

Thank you,

Liam

So I set my theme to light instead of dark and this changed the Sky Sport Golf logo to the correct one. But there is still no consistency on things like TNT Sports or Premier Sports where there are multiple numbered channels. I get some of them with one type of logo and some with another.

What I don't understand is how this all previously worked without issue. I always had the logos that worked best with the theme and they were always consistent across the similar channels.

Annoyingly I have all the correct logos in Dispatcharr. But using those means I don't get the images for shows and things provided by the better Emby Guide data.

Tomorrow I'll try removing all m3u's and guide data and starting again. I might try a different postcode in the guide data, I think that gives a different Sky Q region, but I have no idea if that makes any difference in terms of channels. I would have thought it would all be the same data.

I thought I had seen a similar post on here, but I couldn't find it earlier.

Basically the same thing here.

The confusing thing is how I didn't have any of these issues with the IPTV Boss setup. Unless it was somehow using the IpTV provider logos in that setup combined with the EPG data from the Emby Guide Data.

I'll do some more testing tomorrow.

Hi, light with color describes the logo. It does not mean that it would be used with light themes.

And the dark logo means that the logo is dark.

Does this help clear things up?

Sorry for the slow update. Yes it makes sense now in terms of the light and dark, I realised that from the other post I mentioned in a previous comment. The main bit is the completely incorrect logo for the Sky Sports Golf channel and the less important part is that some of the channels only seem to have a light or dark logo and this then gets used for both. But I have been doing a bit of testing trying to get my head around the Emby Guide Data as there still seems to be a bit of a mess in terms of mixed up channel numbers, I know this was mentioned in a previous post. I'll keep looking into the logo thing and post back here if I have any other issues or anything interesting for someone else.

Right, this is just how they are labeled by our guide data provider, Gracenote.

What you can always try to do at any time is delete the existing images and run the guide refresh and it will get new ones. Maybe they will have updated them.

So I've done some more testing with this and it's kind of annoying as unless I am being stupid I can't get it to do exactly what I want.

If I set the preferred channel image source of the M3U tuner file from Dispatacharr to be Guide Data Source. I assume this means it will use the Emby Guide data I have setup for the EPG data which is using Sky Q London GBR-1000197-DEFAULT

When I do this two example channels which have incorrect images, I assume from Gracenote are Sky Sports Golf (406) which has the same weird image for light, dark and light with colour.

And also Sky Sports + (404) which has different light and dark images but they are for Sky Sports Arena which I believe was the old channel name.

I've tested both of the above by deleting all 3 images for each channel refreshing my browser to make sure no logo is displayed and then I have carried out a guide data refresh which then picks up the same 3 logos for each channel again.

To try and get around these two issues, as well as the fact that I personally don't like the black or white logos which seem to be provided using the Emby Guide Data for most of the channels. I set the preferred channel image source to be my M3U file which contains the correct logos for Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports + as well as containing, in my opinion better images in the traditional sky red, blue and white colours which work on both light and dark themes nicely.

After setting the above to M3U , deleting the existing images for the example channels Golf and Sky Sport + and then carrying out a Guide Data refresh. Golf picks up the correct image from my M3U file and puts it under the dark logo but the light and light with colour logos are still populated with the incorrect image from Gracenote.image.png.5c47a3c2665024adfef5ec8b1828aaaa.png

And for Sky Sports + I also get the correct image for the dark logo from the M3U but the incorrect version for the light and light with colour logos.

The problem I have is that I use the dark theme on everything as the light theme is way to bright to look at, which means even though I have a correct logo from my M3U file it isn't displayed. The same thing happens for a lot of other channels, although they aren't actually incorrect images like these examples, they are just the less appealing, in my opinion, white and black images and the only way I can get it to show the logos from my M3U file is to use the light theme for Emby.

The weird thing is, if I replace all 3 images with the one I want. Then it works correctly as you would expect and shows the logo I want when using either the dark or light theme in Emby. I can manually run a guide data refresh multiple times and my manually uploaded images are retained. But it seems that something runs over night which replaces my manually added images as with the ones from Emby Data/Gracenote as each morning the images are wrong.

Again, as with my other recent posts, I appreciate this is all fairly minor stuff and it's not really a fault or a bug of Emby. But just reporting things that I personally would find beneficial if they were changed. I guess there are two things to this for me.

1. The Gracenote data seems to have the incorrect images at least for Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports +. I know we have the other post about Gracenote channel number duplication. So maybe they have some work to do on their side.

2. It would be good if in Emby we could either manually specify which image to use for the channel logo which overrides the choice based on theme. Or if there was some way to lock the image so once it's been manually changed nothing can replace it with an image from an automated process.

Sorry for the super long reply. Just trying to give as much information as possible.

Thanks again.
