is there a problem with episode images

They seemed to have stopped working on the latest series I've added. Series and usually even seasons get art but the individual episodes seemed to have quit. On a later one 1/2 the episodes have an image, rest are just the image of the series. I've also got a cover as an attachment in the .mkv which I thought would get used if necessary as a backup to online but I can't see a setting to use those so I'm not sure what/when/why those are even useful?

My first thought was you had 'hide spoiler info' enabled but then realised you were still on 4.8.11

Any specific reason you're still on such an old server version of Emby?

Because it just works great and there's a problem with tone mapping on intel QSV on the intel systems that's being fixed and in the beta channel now

there's it's own thread on it, just waiting on the 4.9.ish stable but even then I haven't found a new feature worth changing over to but I need to investigate the new features more

What are your library enabled image fetchers and in what order? Neither TVDB nor TMDB have images for episodes after S03E06, so no thumbs could be downloaded, wild guess would be you have Screen Grabber disabled?

here's my settings, don't see a "screen grabber" choice but thanks for jumping in

I still don't understand how having a cover png attachment on my mkv's plays in, is it ever even used for anything?

It's called Image Capture in your server version. Enable it and refresh metadata on an episode (or multiples).

Grim, that's the ticket, enabled and refreshed a couple and they now have thumbnails for the episodes - thanks. Since that's last in the order I'm assuming that it'll go to the other sources, tvbd etc. first and generate one as a last resort.

Luke, attached is a mediainfo on that file, at the bottom it has a thumbnail of that episode as an attachment in the MKV. What/when/if anything are those attachments used in Emby? With a file explorer (windows) add on they show up in a folder view instead of generic icons.

So is that the image that was used to create the thumbnail under "Image Capture" or was it generated elsewhere from within the mkv ?

It should use that, yes. And if there isn't one, then it will just create a thumbnail from the video content.
