Streaming controlled by Android - Profile?

I am stuck here and can't find the information.

I have my Emba server on a synology NAS and it's working fine. No I want to stream video to my Samsung TV. This was fine for some videos, but for those with DTS audio it did not work. So I figured out, how to create a custom profile and make emby to use it with my TV.

Now I can play als videos with DTS audio, when I use my TV interface to start the video. (So I can go in the TV menu to dlna, choose the Emby server, and then the video.)

So step 1 is done. But what I really want is, to start the playback with the emby app on my android mobile. But this doesn't work for DTS. So: playing directly with the TV, DTS ist transcoded. Playing from the Emby app to my TV seems not to trancode.

My understanding was: no matter who starts the playback, emby sees the DLNA target, and uses the profile is the target is recognized. Is this wrong? Does emby see only ma android device, when streaming with it to my TV? How can I make Emby to transcode in this case??

Thank you in advance,

Pete

Hi, what software on the TV is playing the video?

I don't know. It is a Samsung TV and I didn't install any apps or so. So it seems to see in factory default my DLNA servers. In the "Home" menu I see "Emby" and some others like my NAS or Plex.

Playing the file this way, I see in the log, that Emby recognizes my TV and uses the custom profile. Playing the same video with the Emby app on Android, I can't see this.

No ideas? Can you confirm my expectation: if everthing goes fine, it doesn't matter whether I start the video directly on my TV or remote with my Android-App?

How can I solve the problem? Should I post a log file?

Sorry: it is not in the home screen. I see them when I press "source" on my remote. But there ist no App installed on my TV. It is running on fectory defaults.

Hi Luke,
now I am back and will answer much faster!

To clarify this subject let's focus: my Synology NAS is my Emby Server. I have the Emby App on my Android mobile. My Samsung TV ist DLNA capable and connected to a 7.1 receiver. What I want now is to choose a movie on my mobile and start playback on my TV. So in the Emby app I choose the movie, press the "Wlan screen" Symbol in the upper right and choose my TV. Then I start playback and my TV says this audio format is not supported. I can see the video, but I can't hear anything. You can find a log of this in the attachment.

I know that this Samsung TV is not capable of DTS. Neither playing it by itself nor by passing it through to the receiver. So I tried to solve it with a custom profile. There is a way it works with this profile: on the TV I can choose between many inputs. One of them is called "DS1515" (this is the name of my Synology NAS) and has the Emby symbol. As far I understand it is a way to access Emby via Network, probably DLNA. Choosing this input I get a kind of browser view of my Emby, can start the movie and can hear the sound. So this works fine, but is not as nice as the app on my mobile. It just shows: technically it is possible and the custom profile is used in this case.

I hope you have some hints, how to get it working.

Thank you,

Pete
