Emby + YouTube .strm link not working on Android TV app v2.1.43

I’m running Emby Server 4.10.0.5.

I created .strm files that contain a YouTube link in this format:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v={id}

The video plays correctly in the web player on my computer.

However, in the Android TV app (v2.1.43 Beta) the video does not play. It only shows a black screen and the app freezes.

Does anyone have YouTube playback from a .strm file working in the Android TV app?

If it works for you, which server version and Android TV app version are you using?

Hi,

I tried playing movie trailers from the Movies category using the same setup, and they play without any issues on the Android TV app (v2.1.43 Beta).

I uploaded a log file from when I tried to play the YouTube STRM file “SZA - SZA BBC Glastonbury Festival 2024 (áudio).strm.” The video does not start playing, and the app freezes. I then have to force close it from the Android settings and reopen it.

This happens with all STRM files that contain YouTube links that I created.

Hi,

I have a KM9 Pro streamer running Android 10. I removed the beta version v2.1.43g and installed the stable version 2.1.29g, but the behavior is the same as I described before.

Movie trailers from the Movies category play without any issues on the Android TV app (2.1.29g) using the same setup.

However, when I try to play a YouTube STRM file, the video does not start and the app freezes. I then need to force close the app from the Android settings and open it again.
