Hello,

I have a problem with auto detection of video quality. For an unknown reason it is gonna transcode in 1080p a movie that is in 4k on a 4k screen. I precise that i have fiber optic and it can easily watch it in 4k. Is there any option that would say i prioritize direct play and eventually transcoding if the connection don't allow ? (i thought it was the normal behavior but it sound like not)

Dev's would need server logs and ffmpeg logs to see what is what.

You could turn off auto and select a manual connection speed. It would also help if the community knew what device it's happening on. I know in my experience with crApple TV's they are overly strict and limit the connection to 3mbit, regardless of what your connection is capable of.

The odds are per the dozens of other topics Auto is failing to return useable network query info back to the server and is defaulting to the hardcoded value assigned to every client.

But as mentioned at a minimum the ffmpeg log will be needed for a specific example.

If you know yours and the connecting party's network can handle the higher remote bitrates you will have two options

Set the client to a higher quality setting besides Auto

or

Set the override for Auto on the server for the user in User setup

Still waiting on full support for this in all client apps.

@Lukedo you have a list of client apps that support this server side option, and the one's that don't?
